Team 7 didn’t really have any specialized role. It makes sense given they forced the Jinchuriki and Uchiha orphan together on the same team.


When they needed tracking for Sasuke they asked the best ones in the village at the time (Hinata/Shino/Kiba)

Ino-Shika-cho displayed their intelligence gathering to orchestrate a hit on kakazu and Hidan.

If team guy can get called CQC specialists, then Team 7 can get a battle oriented title too. Something like "monsters" or "chakra monsters." Each member of Team 7 can decimate all others in K11 and have insane chakra. They all have Sannins' summons too.

Both Sasuke and Naruto needed to be monitored so they had to just toss them with Kakashi

Ino Shika Chou is via generations of clan heritage so that would never change (even now)

and they needed special unit teams as well for specific Konoha missions

I think Naruto and Sasuke were grouped together based on their latent potential under Kakashi.

Team 7s creation was based on one being a jin and the other being an Uchiha.

They had no field unlike the others. Calling them, “chakra monsters” isn’t even remotely something that conveys what they are.

By the war arc Naruto is a sensor, Sasuke gathers intelligence and Sakura heals. With the first two beingbthe jack of all trades.

Prior to the time skip, team 7 did nothing special.

Aside from Sakura, both Kakashi and Sasuke then Yamato and Sai were assigned to Naruto for Kyubi watch. That was Hiruzen reasoning I believe as 4 of them had ways of subduing the Kyuubi. Kakashi and Sasuke the Sharingan and Sai and Yamato Sealers.

So I guess Kyuubi watch would be their speciality.

Team 7 was the worst and biggest mess of a team bond in the entire series. So it's not surprising Kishimoto didn't even bother with a team theme for them, especially with Sakura.

it was also the elders that wanted Sasuke to be in the same group as the Jin so that it would be easier to monitor both of them and keep them from getting taken

I really don't see an issue with calling them chakra monsters. The entire Team 7 can level battlefields and low diff pretty much every other character. I think it paints a good concept of what they are. They all also have insane chakra control too, so there's that.

Naruto and Sasuke only became a team due to Kakashi being Minato's student and Obito's teammate and or if Naruto go rampant Sasuke could control him with Sharingan. Sakura was just there. Well and also due to Sasuke being #1 and Naruto being dead last in the class.

Doubtful, Sakura was probably placed because of her skill. Sakura was the only ninja with the capability of learning proper sealing techniques , she even hinted that she wanted to learn them from Yamato when Naruto went berserk .

Ot: team 7 was modeled after the Sanin.
It was hinted in the 3 red chapter I think , with the promo art.
Also they were extremely exceptional.

Sasuke was the last Uchiha , whose Uchiha blood was strong.
Naruto was possibly the last uzumaki, legacy of the hokage , and host of the nine tailed beast.
Sakura was a normal girl with. Extreme chakra control, genjutsu prowess, and intellegence, naturally.

And even in part 1 , the chunnin exams, Sakura was the team leader, the brain, Sasuke was the gatherer , and Naruto was the brawn. There was a dynamic, team seven didnt. Specialize in anything. Because they had it all.
They were the ultimate teams

Sensors
Sakura can sense medical abnormalities in people , and genjutsu, and analyze things . And being that she is the same as kurenai as a genjutsu type in sure she can sense the truth, she is always discerning the truth
Sasuke has the sharingan and can read attacks.
Naruto developed his later on , outside of Kurama .

Taijutsu
Sasuke had nice taijutsu
Naruto is primary taijutsu + shadowclones
Sakura developed hers later on, but always could enhance her speed

Specialized Ninjutsu
Sakura always had mastery of it with her chakra control
Naruto developed rasengan and shadow clones
Sasuke has a sharingan

And the teamwork is there, when they aren't leaving Sakura out
