Didn’t use his beast mode and wasted a ton of chakra protecting his village from Deidara’s attack. Even with those handicaps he almost won. Had one of those handicaps not been a factor Deidara would have lost. Had none of those handicaps been a factor, Deidara would have been curb stomped.
