I be getting the impression that people think Naruto is a bum when it comes to his base mode

Since his training with Jaraiya, his standard taijutsu and overall ninja skill has went up tenfold if you haven’t noticed.

When he was a kid, he was gettin sonned by damn near everyone.

After the time skip, nobody rly outright spanked him in tai except for Super special ninja like itachi, Sasuke, tenzo etc

Ppl say “Jaraiya should’ve did more with Naruto.”

Jaraiya did everything he had to and it shows

Wtf, I dont remember him engaging in thaijutsu with many others? Imo Jiraiya was more concerned with Naruto learning how to control the 9 tails chakra.

As Sala pointed out, Jiraiya spent too much time having Naruto learn to control the nine tails chakra, with little to show for it.

Sure his base stats improved, but it would have been nice if he was taught a good variety of wind techs among other things, etc.

No one thinks he's a bum, it's just that he lacks an appropriate portrayal when he's fighting in base mode, which I don't recall him even fighting in his adulthood without the help of kyuubi. These current animators just don't know how to portay him properly, at all.

Since his training with Jaraiya, his standard taijutsu and overall ninja skill has went up tenfold if you haven’t noticed.

This is sort of stating the obvious. And he's done things BEYOND jaraiyas training, as well.

When he was a kid, he was gettin sonned by damn near everyone.

Exaggeration. They were getting sonned by their own fear of him.

After the time skip, nobody rly outright spanked him in tai except for Super special ninja like itachi, Sasuke, tenzo etc

What's your point? It wasn't just thanks to jaraiya's training...it was also thanks to his EXPERIENCE in battle.

Jaraiya died...

You're giving jaraiya credit for A LOT of things he had nothing to do with. Seriously.

If I'm not mistaken he taught naruto the basic resengan, and trained him for only two years. Then he learned a new jutsu under the training of "kakashi", then learned sage mode, on his own...under the supervision of the old toads. After that, he battled the kyuubi to gain control over it. He's accomplished A LOT beyond "jaraiyas training", his training is simply a "peice" of his storyline...didn't do much of anything.

look at Naruto's mini-fight with Kakashi when he first got back from the time-skip. The techniques he used surprised one of the most proficient taijustu masters in the NV.

Clones, Feints, Transformation, Suushin all in like 7 secs

Didn’t sai make a fool out of him when they met?

I think Base Naruto would've spanked Sai if there was a "jonin exam" and they had to fight for real. and im talking about Base Naruto with his regular arsenal. No extra modes

Kakashi, Kakuzu, Tendo pain (last rasengan in base)

dont count the destruction of his clones as him losing. He purposely uses his clones for distractions

He helped Naruto increase his Taijutsu and combined it with shadow clone jutsu to maneuver his physical art in the air. He also helped Naruto increase his stamina more so he can handle more demon form chakra all the way up to 3 tails and help him learn Kai release weaker forms of genjutsu. That's it.
Rasengan was pre shippuden that allowed him to change in shape into the highest degree.

He really didn't teach Naruto much like changing Nature would be nice.

I dunno, I don’t recall pre pain ship nardo to be all that great in cqc tai at all. He had the oodama rasengan and the rasenshuriken, but early ship didn’t represent him well other than that good punch on deidara. He was all power and no actual finesse at all

compared to what kakashi did for naruto in a period of 1 month, or even to what tsunade did to sakura, its clear as fck that jman dropped the ball. Narto's control over kurama was pretty much the same as part 1 (since he even at 2-3 tails losses logic to emotion) and a bigger rasengan that still relies on clones is pretty garbage. Then there's his lack of elemental techs, his lack of understanding how shadow clones work. . . Its like jman didnt do jack shit.

His taijutsu as many here stated increased; that wasn't the main motive though. Jiraiya was teaching him the method to convert his stamina into power to break free from genjutsu as the only flashback we have about them is Jiraiya teaching him the methods to break free from genjutsu Kishimoto wouldnt put that scene if it was some other training they focused in. It increases the hype of Itachi's Genjutsu; Naruto with full Nine Tails Stamina couldnt break out from Itachi's 30% Genjutsu which was non-ocular in form despite learning to control the Nine tails stamina fully after three years; the only thing he missed was controlling Nine Tails chakra.

Naruto was actually even weaker imo after the time skip than he was before the time skip. Jiraiya failed miserably.

Jiraiya also screwed up Naruto's chakra control (both base chakra control and jinchuuriki state chakra control) by fiddling with the seal and trying to loosen it. The scroll toad even said as much and reprimanded him about it.

You say Naruto could handle more demon chakra but that's false, he couldn't even use it like he did vs at the valley of the end coz Jiraiya messed up the seal. Every time he used it now the kyubi would just begin to take over and he would lose control and fight like a mindless beast.

The things he did in the shippudden bell test were no different from what he was doing pre-time skip. He didn't improve at all in those three years. The only thing he did was get bigger.

He say he got more stamina and strength? Duh? He grew up. That would have happened anyway whether he was with Jiraiya or not, defaq you on about.

Manuevering in the air with clones? Defaq? Jiraiya didn't teach him that, he did that on his own.

Jiraiya trained him well BEFORE the three year trip. I can't deny that. He taught him rasengan, he taught him the water walking chakra control technique, and he taught him the summoning technique, all in a relatively short space of time.

But after that he did nothing for Naruto, in fact, he made him far less reliable as a teammate with that shit he did with the seal. Everybody had to always worry about Naruto losing control and he even hurt his own teammates because of it.

Everybody got better except for Naruto.

I don't know but didn't Naruto wreck Orochimaru and KAbuto when earlier he fails to even measure up? Kabuto is knocked out in single blow. Jiraiya taught him extremly well how to use 9 tails power though his control problem is thanks to Lack of emotion control.
Also His BBR feat against Itachi's clone and almost breaking his genjutsu was good. Against most genjutsu user it would work but since it was Itachi it didn't look that impressive.
Lastly His overall Taijutsu, Air movement and Shadow clone use improves exponentially. So does his Sexy Jutsu =D
