I will assume Lee has 8 gates. So without the restrictionsf give the edge to B. Otherwise team A wins

Lmfao Lee won’t even have to go up to 8 gates against these guys. But this outcome all depends of whether they had prep time. Shikamaru’s tactical knowledge shouldn’t be downplayed but Sai’s intelligence is at the very least on par with his. Konohamaru turned into a powerhouse but so is Sakura. Sakura would be able to take extensive damage and would bounce back damn there instantaneously. If Shika captured any of Team B with his Shadow Possession, Kakashi and/Sakura would take them out immediately after they were trapped.
I think Konohamaru would be able to match elder Kakashi, because he doesn’t have his sharingan anymore but let’s not forget that Kakashi is a genius his damn self. Choji could do an ambush but also be an enormous hinderance (pun intended).

All in all, Team A wins. No one in Team B aside from Konohamaru and Lee have extremely powerful jutsu.

Lee takes Sakura without much effort, Konohamaru with Katon deals with Shino's bugs, Chouji smashes Shikamaru (If I recall correctly a bunch of Nara with Kyubi cloak were needed to briefly hold something Juubi size, so I doubt he can hold chouji on his own) and Sai can probably hold his own against a Sharingan-less kakashi while the rest comes to help.

This is actually a tough match up. Team A is clearly battle smart with kakashi, shikamaru and shino. Team B has some firepower in almost every character. I dunno how many gates Lee can open. He has shown to open 6 i think. But i'd be restricting 8th gate anyways. This is tough. I don't believe Lee can take out kakashi that easily. Dude is smart af. He will probably electrify him with clones feint. Sakura beats choji, shikamaru beats sai but konohamaru probably beats shino. It can go 50/50. I'd side with team A though if i had to bet coz i prefer brains over brawn.

So how does the Ino-Shikamaru-Cho formation work then? I recall Shikamaru using his shadow stitching jutsu to carry Choji even when he’s expanded..

One thing is to allow to be carried, another thing is to fight back. Jubbi was fighting back the shadows, chouji wasn't. Is it the same when you pull someone close to you when they are standing motionless and when they pull in the opposite direction? no.
