Despite them not being the typical favourites and being flawed in most ways, why do you think the original team 7 had very large, sometimes aggressive fanbases? Was it potential, design, personality?

I’m referring to Kakashi, Sasuke, Sakura and Naruto.

Sasuke - because he's cool, smart, strong, badass, has great abilities, skills, battles, and character development. Kakashi for basically the same reasons.

Why are you on this site 3 + years after the main story ended, if you don't understand why the main characters, thus the series itself, is popular?

the mascots of the series, the main characters that we saw for 700+ pages

and for two particularly members the plot of the entire series

eventually that diverged into people liking them and/or hating them with one being considered the worst character in manga/anime history

The main characters are always trashed on this site I just recently read the Sasuke thread, Sakura dosen’t need explaining and apparently Kakashi is one of the most one-dimensional characters in the series.

They have the most exposure. If they weren’t the Main characters they would be in the same boat as the rest of them.

Kakashi is universally liked though.

With the others it’s either you like them or you don’t.

I think this is just what you want to see.

All popular shows have a large "aggressive"(argumentative) fanbase...that's all popular fantasy/actions shows.

You made it seem as if team 7 had something in particular that made people aggressive about them...that's just "normal".

This.

Sasuke is easily the best character in the world's third best selling manga.

This, don’t let anyone fool you, it’s cause we started out with naruto and saw it threw for so long, you’d probably get the same reaction like 80% of the time if you took a group of kids now growing up on boruto first and then showed them naruto and ship

Whenever a character is highlighted more, in the nearest poll they're ranked higher. For example, Sasuke reached the top spot in the poll that came out at the end of Part One. Why? Because his backstory was revealed and he beat Naruto's ass. The readers loved that.

As for later, what happened toward the end of the manga? Sasuke spoke with the Hokage. Learned the history of the Shinobi World. The importance of Shinobi and Villages, how they're more important than individual clans, and chose that rather than destroy Konoha, he would protect it from the shadows like a true shinobi. Then he faced and helped defeat Obito, Madara, and Kaguya with a few cool battle moments.

Afterward we got the Legendary chapter 692 where he announced that he wanted to kill the Kage - that was one of the best pages of the series. Then he controlled and captured all the Biju with Genjutsu and Chibaku Tensei with absolute ease, explained his brilliant Revolution plan which surpassed Pain and Madara's plan go achieve and maintain peace, fought a life and death battle with Naruto then reconciled with his allies. Having realized the importance of teamwork. No longer trying to bear everything alone.

This is superb content that the readers loved. Sasuke would have without a doubt been voted the top spot. I love Naruto but what quality stuff did he do? Nothing tops Sasuke's.

So nothing but opinions?.

I didn't say naruto would've gotten the #1 spot either, There are more characters then just Naruto/Sasuke to fight for the #1 spot.
