how to be grateful? be appreciative? basically i assume to move forward, one should appreciate, but to move backward one would be depressed which results in depreciation of the human asset.

so how does one appreciate?

i really struggle with this.

this was interesting to read though:

i don't understand why i can't just not give a **** and enjoy my life and do things i want to do. it seems my problem is ingratitude and not appreciating enough.

This is funny, and "sure" you do...

you have the rule-based "appreciation"...which is like a forced "thank you" whenever someone does you a "favor" or gives you something.Or you could call it "common courtesy"...saying "thank you" out of respect, cause you know the next person did it for credit anyways and will take it personally if you don't say "thank you".

Then, you have the appreciation when you REALLY needed something, didn't expect it from the person, then you say "thank you"...cause you really needed it, and the situation is really deserving of a "thank you", cause you truly appreciate it. Thankfully I know what that's like.

Real appreciation...is understanding the "Value" of things...and not taking it for granted. To me, that is true appreciation.

Think about it, most "thank yous" are really just for ego validation just like an "im sorry"...lmao. Don't really mean your thankful, as an "I'm sorry", don't really mean your sorry. Just "statements".

Acknowledging when you're wrong is just "stopping", not giving someone power over you.

i mean, like being positive. i'm always negative, i always see the worst of things and i'm quite hypercritical and over analytical of everything including myself.

That's you're problem, you wanna be someone that you're not, so bad.

Stop envying other people. Stop trying to be "better", be yourself.

You can't run from yourself.

what if i'm a greedy, ruthless person? should i be myself? obviously not, i'd hurt others. telling someone to "be themselves" is the worst advice. the best advice would be not advice, it would be guidance for a lost person to become "the best version of themselves"

So then you make changes because it's no good for you, not cause you're trying to impress or prove something to someone else, or trying to be like someone else.

And if you are any of those things, well, you'll simply just be those things. That'd obviously just be YOU...but you'd try to hide it for the benefit of the doubt.

There's consequences for things like that anyways...

"the best versions of themselves"...that's high expectations...that's a lack of self-acceptance. That's kind of "rule-based", too.

You mean to tell me, that you think THAT badly of yourself...lmao, that's an insult.

Sweetheart, I'm gonna have to tell you that you're always gonna have a problem, and are always gonna try and chase this false image...

I struggle with many issues unfortunately, but the root cause is being antisocial and being unable to rely on other people. Ingratitude is linked to this. I think my brain is just weird and i need to get it checked out.
sigh......

I think I'll get a pet:
