I feel that if we work for money, we should be able to keep the money no matter what. It seems like we all still have to pay taxes in order to live. If we don't, the IRA will be after us. Why is that? I know every country has taxation. I'm talking from American perspective. What we need to pay taxes? Where is the liberty that our founding fathers have promised us? Sure, we have freedom of speech freedom of action freedom of the press freedom of religion. But why do I still need to pay taxes? Basically I'm being taxed so that a stranger can have my money.

If you don't pay taxes how will the country develop and be sustained?

If utilized properly, no. Everyone pays taxes and everyone gets to benefit from the programs the taxes fund.

But when you have the poor and middle class pay more in taxes so the rich can get a massive tax cut *cough*GOP Tax Bill*cough*, well then that is grotesque.

Yeah we do benefit from taxation , it helps college students get an education and then with that education, they'll create jobs and businesses to help us

From my understanding taxes exist to develop public services for citizens. Isn’t that the idea?

if people don't pay taxes then the government don't have the money to make a military that will stop other countries from invading us, kill us and take our stuff.

if you don't pay taxes then the governmment can't pay the police to protect you and solve crimes (do you want murderes, rapists and thives to walk freely and those actions not be criminalized?) without the cops you won't even be alive in a week to enjoy your stuff...

you get it right? the government creates the stability and saftie that was needed for you to ask this stupid question.

Do you have better understanding of taxes? Then you can't make any fair judgments.A lot of people take bits and pieces of information and make it LOOK like they know so much about it...i see it ALL the time.

When you speak of taxes, you only hate the idea of getting your own money taken away.Which, I mean, would be ANYONE who thinks they deserve their money.

I think taxes are just an excuse to take money away from people, and people are incredibly convinced.

Constructions and services like police and schools need money somehow.

They should collect from specifically upper class families or atleast business owners.People who aren't already struggling. Give them a taste of their own medicine.

That's a presumption based response. This is simply what you think.

do you even know what the government is?It's not a stupid question, cause it's smart to ALWAYS question your "government".

correction...the "government" uses our tax money, to create things. The government couldn't care less about it's people, it's not even about the people, it's about control. They only care for people, on a materialistic level...which isn't even real. They care/protect the "idea" of people, not the reality of them.

Technically the lack of consent of citizens of the country is one thing. But if they don't like the rules, they could just leave. It's like an agreement between two parties; if one disagrees, they should be allowed to leave and pursue in their own interests. But when the government or president begins with impositions that enforce this despite non-compliance of citizens.... then it becomes unjust.

It's like parents forcing a kid to study something they don't want to and when the kid tries to leave, then they start enforcing and abusing the kid until they comply and then the kid ****ing goes insane or something. There needs to be consent and a plan and control on both sides of the bargain. Otherwise, it becomes inhumane.

Trading is not exactly government's are for. That would be a business guild.

Who do you think creates trade laws?

OT: Armed forces, law enforcement, public programs such as schooling, healthcare and roads are all financed by the government which it gets from taxes. And as someone else said, taxes develop and sustain the economy and national security.

I'm not American, but I'm pretty sure that the Founding Fathers themselves hadn't any particular issues with the concept of taxation and that the liberty they talked about didn't mean that you could do whatever the hell you wanted.

Everyone pays taxes so that the government has a steady source of income, which they use to run the country and provide numerous services for the people. With other words the money you paid returns to you indirectly in a variety of ways. In fact if you would make an estimation of how much each of those services would cost if you would have to pay directly for it, most likely it would be much higher than the amount of taxation money you would have to pay.

No, taxation is not theft as long as it's balanced and the money is used for what it's supposed to be used for.

And seriously "so that a stranger can have my money"? That's an archetypical view of someone who doesn't look further past his own nose and thinks the world ends at his front door. Who says that money was even yours to begin with? Did you make it? Did it not exist yet before you received it? That was money you received for providing certain services and often at least a portion of that money can be traced back to the government and this counts double for people who actually work for the government. With other words you might as well see taxation as the government's compensation for the services they provided you with, you know the same reason as why you wanted to be paid when you did your work.

Paying taxes is a shared responsibility, not something that's centered around a single individual.

Taxes are pretty much putting your share in so the country you benefit can work properly

But there could be excessive taxation or you might find the money you put in not properly used to benefit the people which could be considered theft

With taxes these days, the US government makes it difficult for average people from middle class make it in life. You have to file taxes to be hired, to have a good credit history, to have a mortgage, and etc. And talking about self-employment taxes, they are 15 %, it's a rip off.
