I have noticed that beauty matters a lot today in almost anything, I find it a little mediocre

If you're referring to being attractive (beautiful), I think that It is extremely important in today's society(western world). Being good looking is one of the most important things you can have other than intelligence and charisma. It makes me sad to some part but, It's not as if I don't have a bias towards good looking females.

When I use to be in school, there was a girl that was 16 but she looked like she was 40/45, she was definitely one of the most unattractive young girls I have ever seen and she had very low confidence. I would sometimes look at her and get angry at how unfair life is, I felt pretty bad for her because I had a strong feeling all that was due to her looks. One day, I sat next to her and heard her typing on the computer, so I looked at her and she was typing very quickly. Almost as quick as I type( I can do 119WPM). I have a theory that this is due to the fact that she spends a lot of time on the computer, socialising with others virtually and staying at home rather than going out with friends or playing sports. I'm not trying to generalise that every fast typer is like that because I certainly am not, but It's a theory that seemed to make sense for her.

To be honest, looks is often one of the main foundations of personality. Notice how often the unattractive and unathletic kids act completely differently to the more athletic and attractive kids in general? I think that there is a correlation.

If you think about it, good looks are quite similar to intelligence. In the same way that intelligence is viewed as a positive thing and is very important in today's day and age, like looks, not everyone is born with the same intelligence, it's just that looks is something you notice immediately, which is why it's at the forefront of people's minds compared to intelligence.

In the end, I can also see why it would be this way. Good looks is a sign of good genetics and health AKA Height, Jawline, muscle mass, hair thickness, teeth etc so I can't say that it's completely unfair. I guess a bias towards good looks is something we are built with so that we get make sure that we can pass on our genetics to the strongest human beings.

It depends on your perception of beauty and what models it. If it's merely centered around outlook, then chances are you will begin to hate beauty itself, but it encompasses all and can be appreciated if it's considered on a less shallow level than basing it around pageantry exclusive beauty. It's found in how I may eccentrically eat my cereal excessively fast and loud or how some people talk when they eat. But, if by beauty, it's plainly cosmetics, because I'm not sure as to what you are specifically alluding to, then the obvious answer is it's unimportant, but to an extent it is, as we innately appreciate beauty ourselves. Just looking around and seeing the order in how we govern ourselves, or how people are thoughtful of the clothes they put on or how we're even slightly agitated at the thought of a single hair being out of place, and the painting of our houses coming off, et cetera, it appears indeed beauty is more central to life than we'd like to realize. Beauty is just literally unavoidable. I could spent an entire day rambling on if I tried extrapolating cases that correlate with the subtle importance of beauty in our daily lives.

Very important! Beauty is ambiguous and doesn't just apply to one context (a persons physical attributes) becuase it can be found in everything, everywhere and just about in anyone.

Beauty matters a lot in todays society, but it's temporary in most fields. Lets take for example... If you get a job as a programmer, and you look beautiful, but you can't really code anything xd Then you're no good use to the company. That example can be used in relationships as well and etc. However, being beautiful AND experienced in a specific field gives a bigger advantage, and I would call those people, lucky ones xd

Beauty does matter, but at least you could say the majority consider personality too along with beauty, because we’ve seen beauties with low IQs I’m afraid. Beauty alone means nothing if the person you like believes an ideas that make no sense.

depends. some guys want a beautiful woman, some a crazy one, some an intelligent one, some a rich one, some a nice one, some a bla bla bla..... it goes on and on and on. Beauty is just another value to a person; and most people value it while other do not. I personally do not.

and that's the other thing... what people value; it changes. from time to time, it changes, because the needs of a human are ever expanding, ever changing and ever conflicting. What matters is ensuring that humans are able to meet their own needs; function independently and strive to become the best versions of themselves; but most important, gain the support and access to do so because everything is interconnected and so is everyone. I mean look at the Danes; they're doing pretty well.
