Goten and Trunks

So obviously the Tournament of Power is going on in Super right now and I don't have any problem with that, I actually enjoy the tournament for the most part and cant wait to see how it ends.

But this post is about two half-saiyans who aren't fighting in the tournament, Goten and Trunks.

I had been hoping to see some development for the two since super has started, but there has been little to nothing on the pair.

I understand it can be difficult to develop weaker characters in a series where power reigns supreme and where there are much more powerful warriors in the same universe, but I was thinking that now (with the top 10 warriors in U7 currently away from earth) perhaps an evil could come to earth to try and take advantage of the opportunity. (I think the Boruto series does a great job of making the fights serious and life-threatening while also having more powerful characters around.
It gives Boruto and others time to develop while also maintaining intensity, which is why Son Goku and Friends Return! was not as good as it could have been, because Goku and Vegeta were literally standing right there watching the fight.)

Enter Goten and Trunks, who would finally be forced to the front lines and made to fight seriously without goku or vegeta there to bail them out. I think it would be a perfect opportunity to see them ascend to ss2 or to see another legitimate gotenks appearance.

What do you guys think?

Gotenks = 30 minutes TOP was what 30 minutes to 1hr? SSJ3 gotenks would be already stronger than half the people on the TOP. Vegeta just didn't want kids to be fighting for some reason. Would have been better than tien and krillin.

I don't disagree with you on that, but as a fan would you like some type of danger happening away from the tournament to help develop goten and trunks, or should the tournament be the main focus right now?

It should since it'll determine the outcome of their universe's. Besides Goten and Trunks protecting that island would be child's play since not really anyone can fight them.

I would like to see Trunks/Goten get some fights under their belts, I preferred their characters in Z much more than the way they're portrayed in super.
According to wiki, During the universal tournament time line, Trunks is supposed to be 14 and goten 13 lmao.

Goten/Trunks were kinda good characters in Z and it feels like super is treating them too much like children forgetting they're actually ridiculously strong Far stronger then roshi, Tein and Krillin and such. and while they might still a bit young/immature for a tournament like this it would've been great growth for them in strength/maturity and overall character.

Hahah I was hoping to get a bit more traction on this thread, but you basically hit the nail on the head as far as I'm concerned. Nothing like some action on the front lines to force the maturity out of you.

The thing that irks me the most is the wasted potential. Goten and Trunks are oozing with the blood of the greatest warriors in a lifetime and the writers seem to think its alright to continue ignoring them.

I think writer is only showing characters who have big fan base, not only gotten and trunks many of them are ignored in super

They aren’t mature enough, just the pure bloodlust in the air at the beginning would have thrown them off.

I had this same idea a few months back, it’d be the perfect way to give them spotlight, and force them to grow stronger and get serious.
