Again it wasn't really Kishimoto ideas to continue. If I remember correctly, Jump and the fandom insisted Kishi to work more on Boruto. Boruto isn't as popular as before but it still plays a factor that prompt into the continuation in the first place due to the movie success.

Either way the movie arc is essential for Boruto natural growth progression which reaches its climax from everything that was built up to. Honestly the Movie version had alot of misses opportunities and it was absolutely rushed so the Anime have the chance to make things right.

It's better than a complete recap we have in the manga, the Anime will make alot of changes and adjustment to the main plot. Its questionable what roles Toneri plays in the movie. So much new details will be implemented from Kishi original script as the "True Canon" that makes atleast more people left intriguing and optimistic than before. This give more people a reason to watch than giving people a reason to drop it.

boruto movie anime adaptation is the real and original story of that arc. can't wait to watch it and see what the real arc was suppose to be in the movie but couldn't

If we're talking transitional tie-ins, I majorly hope we get to see Shikadai in action or at least in severe training too. His presentation in Boruto: Next Gen definitely hasn't portrayed him as being able to go toe to toe with Boruto in a 1v1.

I feel like the whole fight was majorly on his side since Boruto only used shadow clones.

So if they nerf him to that extent, I can see how Shikadai can beat him.
