Should one of Naruto or Sasuke have been female?

Now, hear me out here:

1) Their relationship suddenly makes a lot more sense. Especially Naruto hyperventilating over Sasuke.

2) A major complaint about Naruto is the lack of relevant female characters. Problem solved.

3) Sakura is no longer needed. Not sure whether I'd replace her with someone else (Hinata (who is the opposite gender of Naruto) maybe?) or just make 3 man squads instead of 4.

4) It'd be something new. I've never seen any manga, or anything for that matter, attempt quite this kind of romance before.

Fun thought I had this week. Replace Naruto's character with a young Kushina.

I'd vastly prefer this as their roles and personalities are quite similar. BUT if you're going to make the rivals different genders, I think you CAN'T have their relationship ever get romantic...otherwise you risk changing the main drive of the series too much.

1. Naruto's love for Sasuke and vice versa is because they are spirit brothers, as stupid of a explanation as it may be.

2. No, that just means make better use of your female characters with actual potential to be relevant, like Hinata and Hanabi.

3. Sakura was never needed to begin with. That said, yeah, Hinata easily would be more befitting as a female heroine and would be the superior option than changing one of those two into girls.

4. Anyways, if one were a girl, I would prefer no romance since I would truly love to see a shonen were a male-female bond between two main characters isn't about romance. However, I do agree that in terms of romance, nothing like it would exist, which would be a plus I guess.

I think they shouldn't change genders. Naruto and Sasuke are spiritually bonded like brothers.

As for female characters, Hinata's story had major potential over the other female chars, especially when it comes to parallels with Sasuke's. It would've been amazing if Naruto and Hinata were the ones to bring Sasuke out of darkness, because they have a mutual understanding on how he feels.

Weirdos? Even though Sasuke and Naruto are reincarnations, there was no lie that they had some unresolved "tension" between each other. It was there. Hell, even a blind man could see that :lol

Well, I mean Naruto and Sasuke see each other as brothers, and they are now spirit brothers too, that's always been the case. But in terms of how it seemed, yeah "tension" was there.

Hinata’s bloodline, not her and anyway Boruto is based on her bloodline her biggest moment there was getting solo’ed off-screen and the series itself is doing pretty bad in units and popularity compared to Naruto so it’s onviosuly not an interesting concept for readers.
