I agree it could just be foreshadow that he was unconsciously was tapping into it because I noticed he was getting sentimental and determined much like when he activated it in the one shot

Exactly sage mode is the only thing that could of put Mitsuki at a level that Shino couldn’t win without intent to kill

I disagree am pretty sure Mitsuki trained very hard while he was with Orochimaru that's partly how he was able activate Sage Mode in the first place.
