If you watched the episode, Kakashi sorta explains why Boruto is going to fail long term.

He thinks talent can get him anywhere in life, but he's wrong.

Combine that with his natural affinity for not taking anything seriously because he's so good at anything. Jesus, if Boruto grew up in the Warring states. He would definitely be top 1-3.

That was pretty impressive for kakashi to say, but kinda obvious from watching him and watching the rest. Kakashis absolutely right though, boruto has everything so easy he doesn’t really have any resolve or know how serious being a nin could be, he thinks of if way too casually imo

Same thing as saying you having the intelligence but don't study for an exam and not have faith in your own self or lazed out. So start trying to cheat off of someone's paper and i've been there, you can be smart but some talent you have requires another line of work, like hard work and determination as Boruto lacks of, for now. Kakashi stated him having the SKILL he never said anything about his resolve being good and told him he was not worthy of a shinobi due to that specific area.
