Boruto definitely as he tries his best to be edgy. There's not much difference between kid Boruto and teen Boruto tbh, only the face/body tats and face scar.

It's hard to say whether Future Boruto is edgy, Salad fan's seem kinda insecure about Bolt's design in the future, prob because Sasuke trains him, so they think he's 'trying to be cool'. Like how are you trying to be cool when Sasuke is your Master?

It could very well be that Sasuke passed down his teachings to Boruto, and Boruto probably went through something traumatic, even based on the scar. That made him darker.

boruto approach to kenjutsu and using weapon was pretty right choice . nothing wrong or badass wannabe about it
he can't make like 1000 clones as his dad . litmited at 4 clones put him in alot of trouble before
lightinng user offen more effective with sword kakashi , sasuke , entire cloud ninja village , kiba the fang owner , killer bee darui and alot more .
without kumara , without super OP number of clones , without some cheating eyes power then good weapon such as sword or "lightsaber" help alot
