I don't think Obito struggled with the clan, they didn't live together until after the Kyuubi attack. Plus, I have a theory that Obito's parents might have died during the mission that the Uchiha accepted in regards to taking care of the Chinoike clan since both of them died.

He mentions that most villagers considered him an elite because of being an Uchiha, but he felt like a loser. I'd even bet that the only other Uchiha he might have been vaguely familiar with was probably Fugaku which would make his story a little more interesting.

To me Obito as a kid started off very Ashura -esque while Kakashi more Indra like until Rins death both of them switch sides.
