Yeah. After going back and reading the viz chapters I learned that there are two types of yin yang release.
There's the COAT route which creates a living thing such as a tailed beast out of chakra. Izanagi has this same concept too but it can only be done to yourself from what we've seen (that's why it's practical).

Then there's black chakra weapons (blades) that are primarily used to create or use ninjutsus through. Things such as chakra chains, crimson ray barrier, and revived undead bodies.
It can not only be used to create a ninjutsu out of it, it can also nullify the use of a ninjutsu and also manipulate bodies that through chakra nods. It is also the practical version of Six path rods that six path sagemode users use. That one can erase not only ninjutsu but inanimate objects in an entirety.
