Worst Moment of Part 1?

Everybody loves to rag on Shippuden and the War Arc (despite it mostly being pretty great) but nobody calls out the obnoxious moments or deus ex machinas of the earlier series as much as they should.

For me it's between 3:

Naruto Stabs his Own Hand

Holy christ early Team 7 are obnoxious. Sometimes I forget just how unlikeable this band of kids were and this moment is the stand-out for me. Seconds out the gate before the the series' first mission even begins and he delivers a severe self-own to teammates who couldn't care less. It's not a dramatic moment, it's just Naruto being a melodramatic shonen loudmouth for terrible comedic effect. We should be so grateful that Boruto and his friends are 100x better.

Naruto Farts his Chunnin Victory

Part 1 Naruto had a dumb fixation on bottom barrel humour. It wasn't just Kiba, but Chouji, Naruto, Jiraiya and Sakura/Ino who all had pretty immature moments going for crass comedy. Them being kids would be understandable if Part 1 wasn't also so serious and bloodthirsty. A month or so earlier, Team Kurenai murdered other kids in the Forest of Death, a couple chapters after this Gaara paralyses Lee. Part 1's tone was all over the place.

Sakon/Ukon and Tayuya, who both have 2 of the most broken abilities we've seen in the series to this date have their battles interrupted by OHKOs from ninja who are absolutely not that far above them. Stamina isn't a major factor in either of their fighting styles so being powered out is a weak excuse. In just the course of one arc, Temari and Kankuro have become elite jonin level ninja? Effortlessly doing what Sasuke, Naruto, Neji and a team of Leaf Jonin couldn't do. Buuuuuullshit.

If you have any other suggestions, let me know! Though Shippuden might have flaws and inconsistent power scaling, I think Part 1 is a lot worse for wear and hasn't aged very well as we might remember.​

.Itachi tells Sasuke to kill Naruto and tortures him with his family's murder. And supposedly, he's a fu*king her that everyone lives while putting the blame on Sasuke.

.Kakashi giving Sakura and Naruto away to Esibu while showing favoritism to Sasuke. Worst Sensei ever.

.Sakura being completely useless while fangirling over Sasuke like a complete retard till the very end.

Then, she had the audacity to call out Sasuke during the Orochimaru fight for being scared. But she didn't do a fu*king thing in that fight but act as a damsel.

But in the end Naruto ended up running into jiraiya, still was very shitty.

Then she goes and screams for naruto even though she is constantly shitting on him afterwords. She was detestable in Part 1

I actually liked part 1 but haven't seen it for maybe since a decade so might change my mind rewatching it

I could see why people would get annouyed with team 7 but in my early preteens thought the whole Naruto believe it thing was awesome especially when the theme music cane with it

If you ask me, Part 1 is leagues better than Shippuden; I watched it recently and enjoyed it just as much as I did as a kid. But hey, opinions.
OT: Aside from Sakura's entire existence, the defeat of Tayuya and Sakon was pretty bad, but Kiba losing to a fart is worse. That loss is the only reason he's considered a fodder meme character these days.
Even though Kiba is broken as shit but I digress.

Phantom Sound Chains was used by a top tier character at the end of the War and worked on two susceptible EMS/MS Uchiha who would've been screwed without each other's eyes. Sakon/Ukon's durability was INSANE until the bs moment of deus ex machina defeat.

DSM Kabuto even incorporating their abilities into himself shows how useful he considered them, even in the late-series meta. Those abilities are up there as the most broken seen in Part 1, even among the adults.

What you think so far?

Love itttttt, a smaller scale slice-of-life action series with human drama & world exploration is all I ever wanted. Shizuma's final form was so great.

When we get into the bigger stuff and graduating, the series may lose me slightly as I like the tone here and actually wanted more of the class itself. Here's hoping all goes well.
