Chapter 17 confirmed field trip cannon?

In chapter 17 Boruto mentions the field trip to the Land of the Mist that we see in the anime. So are they trying to incorporate the filler into the canon now? But then where is all the anime original students?

Yea it's canon seeing as the Manga reference the anime. It's mostly likely an intentional reference. Although am not sure that makes every filler canon.

Only part I consider filler is what Bolt did. He has only enough chakra o make 4 clones. So his chakra is divided by 4 each time 1 is destroyed that chakra disappears for good. So Boruto with a quarter stamina shouldn't have been able to make shadow clones and spam jutsu like he did. That sort of took away from his character and made it an arsepull 2.0

The author I think confirmed it was a reference to the anime, so they referenced a part in the anime that used the Raiga arc from part 1 as canon. So it's very confusing. But Raiga was retconned into the manga though so maybe it works somehow, or not, I'm not sure.
