He did tho he just changed it up from the get go(Sasuke and Gai stated it)
All he really had to do was train to master his speed so he could use/master Chidori.
Lions barrage was a perfect copy Kakashi was even shocked Sasuke could do it that fast and easy. Sadly that's the only thing he copied in the series.

Mind sharing the scans.
And again that's not the point whether he did it or not but the time it took for him to perfectly master it. Even with his sharingan he had to put in a lot of effort.

There is no retcon. Sarada is simply using the sharingan alot better than part 1 Sasuke ever did (and debatably part 2 Sasuke before mangekyou).

I'll admit that I too originally thought that you needed 2 tomoe or more in order to copy or cast genjutsu, but that was just an assumption and the manga never formally gave us the limits of each of the stages of sharingan (from 1 to 3 tomoe).

It may seem like a retcon, but that is only because Sasuke only ever copied Lee's taijutsu. Other than that, he mainly just used the precognition (especially in VOTE 1) and then once every blue moon he used sharingan genjutsu in part 2.

At the end of the day though, we must all come to terms with the fact that the 4 big titans of the Uchiha clan:

Madara, Obito, Sasuke, and Itachi

mainly left the base 3T sharingan neglected, and served mainly to hype the power of the mangekyou (and later rinnegan) to immense levels.

Sarada is just bringing back some of the attention that the poor old base sharingan lost out to the mangekyou sharingan.

The Sharingan is still the Sharingan and none of it's base abilities are prescribed to particular stages. The Sharingan's abilities are pretty much fight enders. Don't act like Sasuke wasn't busting out all types of shit with his 2T because he couldn't. This is the same guy who lusted after power, so much so that he admitted that he would sell his soul to Orochimaru a thousand times over. Obviously, he trained his Sharingan off screen, but Kishimoto wasn't going to have him use every eye's ability.

He mastered it tho. The extra training wasn't for him to master Lee's fighting style.

If you compare the move it was copied from then you'll know he didn't copy it completely and Kakashi also said it was derived from Lee's technique, Gai confirmed that it can't mastered in a day. Lee only praised him for copying what he did.
And he did train to master Lee's taijutsu...

Literally read the scans and it say he mastered it. Kakashi had Sasuke gain speed from Lee's movements for his Chidori. Sasuke already mastered his taijutsu just not his speed. Or his body to be adaptable to the speed.

You must read the panel you provided yourself. I'd take, Kakashi and Gai's comment over Lee's anytime.
And panel from your current post doesn't change what Kakashi said about Sasuke training hard to master Lee's style in the panel I've provided.
So again point remains Sasuke didn't master it immediately and it took a lot of training and effort for to do that.

You do know Gai is literally saying he mastered it right? Lotus needs grueling training and Sasuke used it as lions barrage with no training at all. And Kakashi was also in awe when when Sasuke did it and said he showed the true power of the Sharingan there. It's literally there that he mastered lotus movements. The rest of his training Kakashi specifically say it was for him to have the speed required to master/use Chidori.

Well if its not a lotus then I won't consider mastering it but a close enough copy and so does Gai and Kakashi.

And Kakashi is clearly saying mastering Lee's style in the panel I provided and not just his speed :lol

It was a complete lotus with a changed finisher. Was clear when Sasuke's body got hella strain from using lion's barrage similar to Lee when using primary secondary and even hidden lotus.

Mastering a technique isn't the same as mastering a fighting style. And we don't even know how long it took Sasuke to master both Chidori and weightless speed. Sasuke mastering lotus movements don't mean he'll all a sudden master the whole fighting style/speed of Lee.

He'd have called it a lotus then and not lions barrage.

Kakashi said Sasuke worked hard to master Lee's style so it wasn't easy and definitely took some time.
@Bold He only mastered what Lee had shown him after working hard for it for quite sometime.
