Republicans just killed a new law that allows class-action lawsuits against banks.

"Senate Republicans voted on Tuesday to strike down a sweeping new rule that would have allowed millions of Americans to band together in class-action lawsuits against financial institutions.

The overturning of the rule, with Vice President Mike Pence breaking a 50-to-50 tie, will further loosen regulation of Wall Street as the Trump administration and Republicans move to roll back Obama-era policies enacted in the wake of the 2008 economic crisis. By defeating the rule, Republicans are dismantling a major effort of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the watchdog created by Congress in the aftermath of the mortgage mess.

The rule, five years in the making, would have dealt a serious blow to financial firms, potentially exposing them to a flood of costly lawsuits over questionable business practices.

For decades, credit card companies and banks have inserted arbitration clauses into the fine print of financial contracts to circumvent the courts and bar people from pooling their resources in class-action lawsuits. By forcing people into private arbitration, the clauses effectively take away one of the few tools that individuals have to fight predatory and deceptive business practices. Arbitration clauses have derailed claims of financial gouging, discrimination in car sales and unfair fees."

Corruption at its finest.

Ugh, i hate articles with all that pompous, showy verbiage. Rather than just keeping it simple and straight to the point. And so premeditated, rehearsed...as if typed, deleted, and re-typed over and over again just to look more "showy". The "flow" of article is terrible...can't even read it fluently.

Anywho, you don't know the reason behind people doing things. You never know, you have A LOT of people who like to make claims under false pretenses, for the self-benefit. I cannot stand court...bunch of liars and manipulators.

oh my god...and then people acting so "grand" about the fact that they can comprehend it, or at least convince others that they understand.Too much "showiness". Oh my god.

So just to be clear; are you in favor of this action to not allow class-action lawsuits against banks accused of malpractice, such as Wells Fargo and their recent account fraud scandal?

So basically Trumps 1st term will be about nothing more than dismantling everything the Obama Administration put in place and not replace it with anything substantial, or even anything they themselves can agree upon.

Makes me wonder how his 2nd term will play out should he be re-elected(gawd let’s hope not)

Look at you...I see you.

That doesn't mean I'm in favor of it.Just sayin, you never know...sometimes you just need to freakin move on to another bank.People feel entirely too entitled, anyways.Sometimes these claims are all about personal gain. "Banding together" definitely just sounds like a desperate plot, to me. At least there still can be many individual claims.

Sh*t I've had issues with banks, and I simply moved on to another bank. Atleast do your research, first, before you join a bank.

Honestly, I don't care, you snooze...you lose. I had an issue with wells fargo, and took my ass to another more reliable bank. Lawsuits are entirely to stupid.

There's a great difference between having an issue and being subject to fraud. If a bank screws with your savings, then they should be held accountable in the court of law and not through their own internal arbitration system.

These cases are not easily settled and you need strong evidence; but if multiple people come through and there's a strong case to be made, then there is more indication of malpractice than motive for a quick cash-grab.

Well, guess what, buddy? No more more class-action lawsuits...

What are you gonna do?You're gonna have to go individual, sorry. The era of the overly self-entitled using the law to get their way...will soon be over with trump as our president.(Despite being an ass, yes, he can see through self-entitlement).

So we should just give up and accept that banks can screw us over at any given moment with no way to fight back?

That's the way YOU'RE making it sound, which is very manipulative. You just feel so ENTITLED to your rights, don't you?

You have the choice to either accept reality, or just continue to complain about it. Pretty much self-defeating.Count your blessings, bud. You'll be okay, learn how to stop jumping to so many conclusions, all the time.

We'll all be okay...

Oh how unfair, you always exaggerate and make these insertions of me, because you have this controlling mentality and refuse to lose control. Why can't you just respond with the truth, and not some personal opinion. Then you're simply not saying anything that's real.

You CAN complain about it. Be in denial, as you always are.

Yall have entirely too much pride...too much special privileges. To be honest, some of you need to know what it's like to not have options. Sorry.

"Fight for what I believe in"...meaning "I'm an entitled brat, extremely controlling, and I have to have my way"

Ur right unlike U, I refuse to give up control willingly, with no retort or pushback.

If yall get one over on me because i lacked information then kudos on u. I deserved that, should've read the fine print.

But if u openly telling me ur gonna fck me, and there is things i can do to stop from fcking me, then i will do so, unlike u who openly spits their butcheeks, and has prelubricated their arsehole.

Dreckerplayer always disagrees with the OP for the sake of looking edgy and/or trolling, so just ignore him.

Someone's jealous and full of denial.

But then to advise others to ignore me, but then MENTION me to draw attention yourself, is hypocritical. If YOU can't do it, how can YOU advise others to do so. Clearly, you're just trying to take a dig at me. You have no genuine advice to tell anyone. You can excuse yourself.Lmao, you act like you know what you're talking about, you're a legitimate jive turkey.

You know, you aren't the first attention seeker to do this. "just ignore him"...just a spiteful, yet, contradictory remark.
