Nope, PT I Sakura had no link to the plot and was just a live interest, she was a great character to watch grow but Boruto will grow too, y'all just being too quick.

Well i guess you could say bourto is part one rock lee (chunning exam, stopped sasuke/unknown chunining) , rather than sakura because sakura never stopped a clash b/w two champs.
