My theory is that the black chakra is a form of spirit energy . As kurama has stated by the lines " your chakra is darker than my own " to sasuke , and kurama was called " The spirit fox " by jiraiya .

Just my theory tho .

Also there is black colouration of cursed seal. It's a spirit as a manga statement says "a demon possesses them and the only one to perfect adapt to it were Sasuke and Kimimaro"

Well, it was stated the cursed seal is senjutsu. But it's stated oro took some enzymes from his body and created the cursed seal so I think the demons live in juugo's clan members bodies and that the demons get agitated when they interact with the ryuchido, since that's how oro found the location. So I think the sage mode is cursed seal but juugo's kekkei genkai ability is not sage mode but a form of spirit energy like darui's black lightning.
