I think that Inoichi let's everyone know who Obito is once they tried to launch the "Allied Shinobi Forces Jutsu". If Chojuro wasn't there for the war, then it would explain why he doesn't know anything.

They were all inside Obito's head when tugging the Bijuu out I believe. Regardless, he's just generally talking about the past, so it makes sense to oversimplify it. After all, they went to war against 'Madara Uchiha' and his name is legend and well known. Wouldn't surprise me if many civilians don't even know his name.
