Intent: bloodlusted
Distance: 50m
Location sasuke vs deidara ( in other words a plain field)
Conditions: no 8th gate and no speed blitz right of the bat

Kishimoto is stupid. He'd probably say something contradictory about his own character's abilities. The only thing the author is reliable for is clearing up how techniques work (databook, and manga portrayal). Anything other than that, and I can comfortably say us fans are much better in deducing which characters triumph over another.

So if Kishimoto stated Iruka > Itachi you'd believe it without weighing their abilities against each other? Just like how Deidara stated Sasori was his superior, but its clear Deidara's ability to defeat Sasori is known. Just because the author said something is true, doesn't make it so regarding x > y.

Only moron here is one who thinks that fictional characters words said in manga are Kishi´s official opinion on that matter.

Author's words has more weight toward any decisions. You only think what you think is logical based on Manga's words and actions but not on idea and conception behind the writing bcus both of this qualities are author owned. He's the only one who knew the reason why Senju is above Uchiha. To get the detail on 'why' and 'reasons' you need to ask Mr Kishimoto himself and not debating about this matter in NB 24/7 .

And I doubt Kishi is too stupid to say Iruka>Itachi. But anyways he knows better.

Gai is greatly overrated without 8 gates. Ay is faster and stronger than 7 gates guy, and would outlast guy in a fight if guy uses 7th gate. Not to mention Ay has lightning defense that completely negated sasuke's chidori.
