It's true. Shikamaru forfeit his bout with Temari. Though he practically won the bout. Temari was declared the winner. But Shikamaru's display of skill and judgment won him the title of Chunin.

OT: guess it depends on how well the Genin perform. One all or none could pass depending.

Omg it's like u read my mind! i was cumming in here to post about sakura's exploits in teh forest of death and how, if witnessed by hiruzen, would have instantly got her bumped to chunin.

Protected Sasuke and Naruto in addition to nursing them, made formidable traps which baffled teh sound nin and she used her wit to fool them with a basic replacement jutsu, which was all she could use at that moment becuz her chakra was drained. I wasnt even going to mention her sealing sasuke's cursed seal with her hug but hey i think i will
