I had to actually look back through the entire Water 7 and Ennies Lobby arc and saw no mention or hint of Luffy acquiring to learn this ability before he used it against Blueno, so by definition, isn't this considered an asspull, or could you make the argument that this is just another component of his DF power, so technically it is not really an asspull?

I believe Oda said that the StrawHats do training between arcs. He just doesn't need to show it like how you see it in Naruto and Bleach. However, It's been explained how Luffy accidentally discovered G2. It happened in the 7th movie that takes events before Water 7. Not sure if this would be considered canon or not.
The doping process is trigged by accident when his legs buckle under the pressure of the Super Kougame-kun's leg and pump more blood through his body, giving him a brief boost in strength.

OK. Only at the point of Enies Lobby they were bullshit. Why?
Mainly cause of how the story depicted M3 against cp9 prior to their fights. They couldn't even compete with the lower agents like buleno but were later on keeping up with them in base. You could say Luffy was hungry but he should have still preformed better

At least in the new world oda could always fill the gab with their 2 year training but w7 and El strawhats seemed like entirely different characters in terms of power.

Well, you make a point. True. The powers the M3 (Luffy, Zoro and Sanji) have should be demonstrated during Water 7, but they didn't. Now why is that? Well, the only ones who are strong and encountered CP9 were Luffy and Zoro. To word it and try to make sense, my guess is that Luffy and Zoro managed at some time before Water 7 to reach certain level of strength that they didn't demonstrate it fully and didn't manage it at ease as possible. Then, Luffy and Zoro encountered enemies who uses fighting techniques that Luffy and Zoro have never seen or experienced. Apparently both Zoro and Luffy were setting their minds to fight in somehow standard power level against CP9 and they read them wrong. Caught Zoro and Luffy off guard. The two didn't fight to their fullest extent in Galley-La building. One might try to excuse Luffy and Zoro, because one didn't eat meat, the other didn't drink enough booze, but it might sound silly.

Let's not forget that StrawHats do train between arcs. A small time-skip of days to a week and half might be after each arc. Would Oda agree with the 7th movie and the discovery of G2? No one knows.

Not really as Arab said I think Oda said they trained between arcs.

Even if it was,it was nicely explained how it was done and achieved which imo made sense but it's just personal opinion at this point

Just stop.. go home reevaulate your life. If you think that sanji's opponet wasnt strong when they had a doroiki scaling in which sanji and zoro opponets respectivly had a 20 doroki difference then just stop reading. I know it seems like i am attacking you but honestly your post seemed like it was created just to isolate sanji's efforts in this arc which by the way was crucial in the story as he is the reason that he is the sole reason that they were able to escape.. sorry if seem aggresive but your post literally made me cringe at each and every sentence after "Well, the only ones who are strong and encountered CP9 were Luffy and Zoro"

one piece is not naruto, you don't learn stuff, they're part of your fruit arsenal and get unlocked the stronger you get.
That's not how it works. This reply is adequate for both you and Dannie.

Gear Second isn't an asspull. An asspull is a deus ex machina, something that comes out of nowhere to save the day when the day doesn't look saveable. An asspull would have been Gear Second when Luffy was fighting Aokiji. When Luffy is fighting Blueno, he mentions that he knew he had to get stronger after he lost to Aokiji, and unveils Gear 2. He also had Gear 3 developed prior, so the Gears were developed because he had to get stronger after being beat by Aokiji.

Riker do u think Gear 4 was asspull since it was never mentioned in any of the arc before Dressrosa and Luffy did struggle against destroying Noah. If he had something like Gear 4 then he should have used it in FI arc. I believe Luffy not using G4 in PH can be justified since he would have probably destroyed the CC's lab ultimately killing everyone inside it but G4 would be actually useful in destroying Noah back in FI arc.

I'd say that it isn't an asspull, at least in Luffy's case. Gear Third is hard to see as an asspull. He could already inflate himself with Gomu Gomu no Balloon, so it's not to much of a stretch for him to inflate his bones. Gear Second is harder to debate, because I don't know enough about anatomy, but I feel like the explanation of the mechanics was definitely good enough to let it fly.

I can't deny that Asura, Zoro's power-up, was an asspull, but I feel like it could easily be retconned out of being one. It could just as easily turn out to be a unique way of manifesting Haki as it could be an asspull. Oda hasn't elaborated on it yet, so who knows what it actually is.

Sanji's WAS an asspull. I mean, one could argue that it might've been subconscious use of Busoshoku or something, but HE LIGHTS HIMSELF ON FIRE USING FRICTION, AND SOMEHOW USES IT UNDERWATER AFTER THE TIMESKIP. I can't even sell myself on it.

But I just want to point out that at Galley-La, they didn't have the same motivation as at Enies Lobby. At Galley-La, they didn't know that Robin was being blackmailed by the Buster Call, or that she was sacrificing herself to save them. After gaining some insight and fully understanding where they stood, they could go all out to rescue her. Simply put, they didn't hesitate to save a friend in need.

Luffy didn't use G4 at FI because we as readers weren't allowed to know about until it was necessary so as to not spoil the surprise but Oda established with the skip that Luffy was working on stuff so we can chalk pretty much anything post skip to his 2 year efforts with Rayleigh.

What? There was subtle foreshadowing, read what Luffy says at the bottom panel

We knew a power-up was coming so it's not an asspull.

Sanji's was but just as you grant leeway to Zoro's being able to be explained we got our explanation for Sanji this arc. His Vinsmoke alterations took longer to manifest. At least that's what I got from it.
