I'm 16 and like 187 pounds, and I've been running and I think it's been helping. Anyone else?

That is not even much weight to be honest, unless you are actually a girl.
BTW I do go to gym but not to gain or lose anything but simply to have some physical activity and because gym is 200 meters from my house :p

I was overweight like last year, then I started running but I got pain in my legs and feet so I tried other stuff to get rid of the pain, then at the beginning of this year I got a little more serious and worked out by running on some crosstrainer thingy in the gym for 30 min + some minor strenght stuff for 20 min 3 times per week for 3 months. I lost weight after that. I was never hugely overweight but I was weak and fat basically. A little fat. Not super fat but noticably fat.
I tried running again after that and managed to run 6 km but then I got pain again now my plan is to start running on the treadmill for 5 days a week for at least a month.
Then maybe I can start running outside. The hardest part is to not eat crap. I used to buy loads of chips and candy and ice cream and everything but I don't do that anymore.
I want to get in shape but I'm not sure I want to be too much in shape, I just don't wanna be fat.

Only to keep my jawline, and hollow cheekbones. Couldn't give a shit about anything else.

nope. Depending on how tall you are that might not even be overweight. A friend of mine weighed 165, and worked out to lose weight. By the end he weighed 180. Its muscle mass now but. u get the point.

hell no lolxD even if i was overweight i would just except that shit. life is way too short and food is way too good to be thinking about diets, thats torturing yourself. i know people that count calories everytime they want to eat something, or can only eat certain things because...because...

i also hate excersing, i dont see how anyone could enjoy tiring yourself out. thats basically what youre doing because you have low self esteem. i could see if you had a health problem and had too to live or something..but just getting buff for no reason, like are you a spartan or hunting dinner every night? what do you need to have a bunch of muscles for, idk

but honestly i dont want to live a super long life. id rather drink, smoke and eat what i want why im here. luckily i have a high metabolism but i cant even jog around the park without coughing up a lung..i really dont see a situation where i would start working out honestly but hopefully i never reach a point where i have to make that decision

I wanna lose weight so I can feel good about myself. I feel I enjoy life more if I don't have to worry about my weight and by that I need to lose it.

i mean thats cool and all, do you. but imo you dont need to lose weight to feel good about yourself, thats more an internal thing than an external thing and you most likely feel that way because society planted that in your mind..but before being overweight use to be a sign of wealth

but if you feel like you need that to raise your self esteem, try and see. you might not feel better about yourself or you might actually. but imo you should learn to love yourself either way despite what others think, theyll judge you regardless of what you do

Torturing yourself? You can clearly eat joyously on a diet, that "joy" however, is just simply limited.

As well diets don't last forever. Once your goals have been met you can eat whatever you want for quite awhile tbh.

I could get into this heavy, and go on for days. But all in all I'm just saying, diets don't, and aren't as "torturous" as people tend to over exaggerate they are.

Clearly you're inexperienced, or blatantly ignorant to dieting. Anyone with even a simple grasp regarding the many, many different dietary plans wouldn't say such nonsense.

There's literally diets where you can eat whatever you want for 5 days straight, and take the remaining two light.

Or the daily switch where you eat whatever one day, then a targeted amount of calories the next etc etc.

Don't remain ignorant my guy.

Dieting is the most important part of exercise. You can work out for an hour, but if you eat more calories than you burn off, then you're just going to gain weight. Make sure it's the opposite where you burn off more calories than intake.

Drinking sugary liquids actually makes you gain more fat than if you eat sugary foods. So the easiest and one of the most vital parts of dieting is to eliminate sugary drinks. I try to strictly drink water. That's not to say you can't drink or eat excessively every now and then, but you don't want it to be a habit.

Diets differ depending on whether you want to build muscle or simply get lean. You just have to know what your goals are and what works for you.

When u run youre only burning calories then but growing muscle burns calories evem when youre not exercising
If u lift weights youll burn calories in youre sleep while u grow muscle plus youll get that lean,toned look people think they get when they do nothing but run,and youll eventually hit a platuea from doing nothing but running anyways.

I gained some pounds during the summer that I should get rid of. :lol I am also cutting back on sweets. I like jogging too, OP. It's so relaxing. :) Well, exersice in general is like that. It's easier to keep up with it when I am stressed out. XD

thats not a lot, depending on how tall you are, and also having weight doesn't mean your fat, im 18 and 6'3 and i workout a lot because i play football, muscle weighs more then fat, ik some people at my school that's like 5'6 and fat as hell but they weigh only 190, but then there is widereciever types that are like 6'3 and weigh 190. the diffrence is the reciever has height and muscle, so they weight sits down more, the other guy is short and all fat.

so having weight doesnt mean you are fat, btw if you are running and working you should stay eating because you won't get any better if you workout and stuff and dont refil your body with energy, just eat healthy, you don't have to stop eating just eat right and workout then you will see your body start to change
