I don't understand why they can't serve at all? Yeah I could understand not allowing the government to pay for their surgery. Makes sense. However not letting an already existing trans person into the military is just intolerant and discriminatory.

Just because you don't agree with their decision doesn't mean you should have a problem with them or their ability to work. I don't have a problem working with anyone as long as they know how to do their job and complete our mission. That should be it.

Like I said, I understand stopping them from joining to get the surgery because why would we want people who simply want to join to get a surgery and will only focus on their surgery. Just my cents of two. What do ya'll think.

Edit: Messed up that title and it seems like bait. My bad ya'll.

Strange, a dude on 4chan literally predicted the thing with Imran Awan and said that Trump would distract the media with something... and now this. There's more to come, this Awan only being the first domino, at least according to him. Let's see if more dems will be imprisoned.

they should be able to die for our country if they want too. i dont understand why we have to make everything so petty here. its more about how Trump feels and how he can leave his mark, than whats actually good for our country. alienating everyone further is counterproductive, how about make it so we can provide them the therapy at a cheaper cost, rather than just banning an already small group in the country

like they can pretend its so hard to pay for their hormone therapy but in reality its probably a small portion of the militaries health care, theres really not that many trans people in our population, ive been to every state multiple times and its still a rarity to run into a transgender person. if wanna be trans peeps join the military just for surgery, in the end we just have more soldiers, which is a good thing. not to mention a lot of people join the military everyday for the benefits they provide, not because they want to fight in war

the pettiness continues because this is all apart of Trumps goal to undo everything Obama did for some racist reason. its just disappointing that we have a jackass as president

Just wondering, Would trans on the battle field that require to take hormone pills or what ever, effect their ability to perform?.

I quickly googled any possible side effects and came up with
Some effects vary from drug to drug.
Tiredness. You may feel more tired when you are taking hormone therapy. ...
Digestive system problems. Hormone therapy can cause a few problems with your digestive system. ...
Menopausal symptoms. ...
Hair thinning. ...
Muscle and bone changes. ...
Weight gain. ...
Headaches. ...
Memory problems.

I can imagine most people joining just to get the surgery, then skating out of their contract by feigning some sort of illness. I've already seen it happen. I don't really care about having transgender people in, as long as they are treated like the rest of us.

i also want to add that the military isnt actually paying for any surgery unless it necessary, its not even covered by most health care here. like if someone gets half their face blown off, they might get plastic surgery, they arent paying for *** changes. so no one is joining for a *** change op

but kicking out an already enlisted transgender person is stupid imo

I believe this is justified. People with disorders shouldn't be an active part of an army. National security matters are not something you can just toy with even if you're a liberal obsessed with PC and tolerance.
Are they less suited than gang members? Because we currently let gang members enlist without a second look. I'd rather have someone fighting that is dedicated to the cause and you feel uncomfortable about then someone you're comfortable with who is more dedicated to their gang and themselves than the cause.

If we're talking about proven criminals with serious crimes in their records, then they obviously shouldn't be allowed in either.

On 'the battlefield' is funny. There are so few people who are 'on the battlefield'. There are millions of servicemembers who will never deploy to a combat zone. Like the vast majority. So worrying about the above is just a waste because you could restrict them from the battlefield, not from joining the military all together.

They actually were paying for the entire procedure, of course it needed commander approval by still

What good is a soldier that can't even be deployed? Getting all the benefits the military offers and not even having to worry about actual combat while other people die on the battlefield doesn't sound very fair.

Depends on whether or not you view it as a disorder. I don't.

Oh stop making things up. Do you even know how hard it is to get the military to pay for anything? You can't even 'feign an illness and get out of your contract' that's not a thing. Not to mention you don't realize how hard it is for the military to actually even pay for the gender change anyway.

Deploying does not mean going to 'the battlefield'. We deploy all over the world to undisclosed locations. Deploying to a combat zone and a regular deployment are different. A large majority of servicemen/women will not deploy to a combat zone. Should women not be allowed to serve because they could get pregnant and would be unable to deploy at all? Stop it.

i dont believe that unless it was deemed necessary for the person to stay active. they arent just throwing out plastic surgeries because then youd have all kinds of people joining to get boob jobs or liposuction, its also extremely hard to get out of a military contract, people arent joining to get gender surgery, if they are theyre foolish

but our government cant even give us free health care, they arent paying for diddly unless they have too

And yet we're not taking any steps at banning them knowing full well they're using our resources to advance their criminal establishments.

We'd rather ignore these service men rather than ignore ones who make us feel awkward. Should every trans be allowed, no should they all be banned, no.
