I compared them because you said in your own post Fodders should be minions, unnamed characters, and featless/hype characters to make the antagonist seem powerful and dominant. It shouldn't power scale to the point everyone who isn't the main characters are fodder.
all of the main character were nerf for steven. They turned him into a god. He brought Lars back to life,he has the most powers/feats out of any other gem. The only other gem to have a feat is garnet and Pearl. The most intelligent character was peridot but she was dumb down to make steven more smart. The only time the gem did heavy lifting was in season 1-2 and the beginning of season 3

Sounds like shitty writing. Glad I didn't watch it besides watching it with my little cousin.

Young justice and teen titans are good balance. Everyone has a role that isn't undermined.

Untrue. That's only in shit tier writting. Whats the point of having side characters develop or have unique traits when the MCs can do what they do but better and on a grander scale. It would be better off making the MC weaker than everyone or making the support incredibly strong. Kinda like Strongest disciple kenshi.

Power scaling aside:
No one can really play up to their strengths because Naruto And Sasuke undermine it. Boruto gets a pass because he's the MC and even then Sasuke saw everything going on with momshiki ghost.

Listen, I'm studying creative writing, lets get that out of the way now. I am author, so I believe I know what I am saying. You generally have two kinds of action type books or manga. One where the main character is super powerful, and one where the main character is super weak. An example of a strong hero would be Bleach, or Naruto. It's harder to come by a weak hero book. But it isn't shitty writing to have the side characters be weak compared to the protagonist. In fact, if done right, it can be great. That's how the real world works, if you are strong and others are weak, you are strong and others are weak. There is no denying that. Typically books won't be read from the point of view of a side character. The strong character will be the center of attention. About the whole skill thing, the hero can't exactly be in all places at once, other things must be done when they aren't around. You need to have other characters to show some sort of power scale. The main character shouldn't be able to do all things, but sometimes they just can. It is part of their abilities. I have a strong main character, he dwarfs other beings, at this point in my story, he cannot be beaten and he is stronger than the god that created the world. If you have incredibly strong side characters, there can be a good story, but it won't be the same story. We all love Naruto here. Just imagine how shitty it would be if he was a weakling. Madara would wipe the floor with everyone. Just remember, strong side characters can undermine the message of the story, you have to think about the theme. Nobody likes a story with no real story. With everyone about equal power, you just have a flat road of a story. Not the rollercoaster brought on by differences in power.

I'm not saying Naruto should be weak nor everyone at equal power. There should be roles in place I believe.

IMO, the power scaling of Naruto shouldn't have kept increasing past the likes of Pain, with the Bijuu being the ultimately powerful beings overall. This way, there would still be the sense of danger from the mighty villains but the gap between them and the "average" ninja wouldn't be miles and miles wide.
