The only reason why the Uchiha wanted to rebel was because of the injustices they had to face. In the manga, it stated that Uchiha wanted peace, but Tobirama had to screw things to high hell by treating them like expendables, spying on, kicking them to the outskirts, and slowly stripping them of their status.

Then, you had Danzo, who used Tobirama's methods against them to the extreme.

That's the reason why I say Hurizen and Hashirama were soft, because if I was Hokage, I would've killed Tobirama and Danzo for messing up what was supposed to be a peaceful foundation. Hurizen would've never been Hokage as well.

The Uchiha were basically like how blacks were during the Civil Rights era if you think about it.

I don't mean Sasuke becoming evil/rogue over what happened is bad per say, or inhumane, just not handled well. One example is him being jealous of Naruto, which I think was really out of character for someone like him, especially when people like Gaara and Neji were also above him at that point. Another would be him, as per his own words, trying to kill Naruto for no other reason than a whim. His ideology of killing Naruto to severe bonds also makes no sense when he can just severe that bond by walking away, like he already did mind you.

I also want to add that I think Sasuke was forced to stay evil for so long so Kishi could come up with a realisitic way for Naruto to be the one to save him, that's why it was dragged on for so long, yet in the end, due to Naruto not being as complex a character as Sasuke, that became impossible, and the one's to save Sasuke were Hashirama,Itachi, and Sasuke himself, while Naruto played a very shallow and forced role in saving Sasuke simply because he was the MC and had to be relevant to Sasuke's redemption, but in truth, Naruto is about as relevant to Sasuke's redemption as Sakura, that is to say, not at all. And what makes that more pathetic is that 300 chapters were wasted on build up about how Naruto is the only one who can save Sasuke.

Sasuke was left alone to deal with the pain. Obito didn't care about his suffering and only wished to manipulate him. I guess that's why it took Sasuke so long to come back. All that pain and hatred can blind you. That's what drove Sasuke to make his plans to achieve true peace in his own way.

Naruto was the only one who could truly understand his pain. It took Sasuke 699 chapters and a good smacking to the head to realize Naruto's love for him.
