I think the big baddy could have the same eye Boruto has, but a "evil" version. Because Jougan means pure eye, but if you replace ou with an "A", it means 'evil eye" (Jagan).

There's also a Chinese anime that uses the Jougan lore too.

I think your lexicology is the one that is flawed. Sharingan cannot be said to be the "origin" of Mangekyou, for the latter is a normal evolution of the first. The "ORIGIN" of Mangekyou and Sharingan is the Rinnegan. Rinne Sharingan is the ORIGIN of the Rinnegan.

That would make the eye less meaningful in a way, and I think the writers are going w/ making his eye the one and only.
