It's a no brainer. both clans were held in respect in Konoha that much is obvious. but when the entire world fears the sharingan a lot more than the byakugan that says something.

With abilities like that Uchiha are easily much more powerful as a clan and even without MS their natural abilities combined with the individual Uchiha's learnt abilities would both logically garner more praise and fame worldwide especially with Genjutsu which forces normal ninja to flee if in a 1 v 1.
