Kakuzu and Hidan are one complimentary, sick team. They cover each other's weaknesses and their fighting styles are so different that it often allows fighters to underestimate Hidan or forget about the intelligent but quiet fighter at the back. Kakuzu can allow Hidan to fly and can piece him back together whilst Hidan allows Kakuzu to get a good analysis on the enemy. Both are nigh-impossible to kill unless split up.

That said, is there an even better match that improves the powers of both fighters?

Also, if anyone cares- it's my birthday in the morning. Woo. Will try to be active more often xo

Happy b day, and no not really, kakuzu's ability to split into multiple high level elemental jutsu using monsters kinda makes him the best bet. Maybe someone else with big aoe jutsus would do really good too, but I can't really think of anyone that can split like that bar clones and fission

Especially as many of the elemental jutsu don't seem to really affect him so much? (Or did I just make that up)

I'm thinking some kind of medic or puppet user I guess but i'd actually recommend a Nara. If you could make Hidan listen, that's genius tactics and shadow binding jutsu at your disposal. Any Ninja who are good at restraining are also obviously useful here. Perhaps Chiyo?

Possibly, a nara would be a good match especially considering a binded opponent is much easier to curse. As far as the puppet users I'm not so sure... other than strength in numbers and if it was sasori as his partner, I don't think chiyo or kankuro would be as good. I think the elements affected hidan but he just heals maybe? He's immortal and all but we never actually see him heal himself in any way lol kakuzu still works best as they have a counter to damn near everything but genjutsu and rikudo level stuff

Shikamaru would be good...His goal would be to capture teh target with shadows then leave Hidan to do teh rest...

Sasori might also be good because he should be able to spam poison gas without harming Hidan much and his attacks are bound to draw a cut from his opponent

Both good shouts. Doesn't poison paralyse the body though? Hidan is probably still susceptible to that, and headstrong as he is- would definitely get himself poisoned haha

I'm gonna do some brainstorming but agreed, Kakuzu's moveset and personality is a custom fit. ESPECIALLY with his hearts giving Hidan flight, distractions and power in numbers. Hidan just with one seperated heart was out-gunning Kakashi in the anime.

Chiyo wouldn't be to bad as said previously. Chiyo controlling Hidan from a far would be quite the advantage and his movements would be more fluid. Itachi would be good too. Itachi would only have to do finger genjutsu and all Hidan needs is a second to withdraw some blood from an opponent. There are probably more that I'm just not thinking of right now.

Well they're damn near impossible to beat if you think about it, it took shika, kakashi, choji, and naruto to beat him, and Asuma had to die to get any decent intel. They had the right idea tho, kakuzu is the one to take down first, but that's a pain with hidan attacking, granted hidan isn't over powerful or fast but all he needs is blood, then you gotta worry about him being in his circle... and those are just the basics. No one normal is beating them alone

Konan. Her flying a manipulation of papers could surround their opponent, limiting their movement with Hidan doing the inner circle.

NB makes the mistake of berating Hidan by throwing him in VS matches alone. He was literally designed on the manga page as one half of this two-man squad and even them his fighting style was cut for time. Ofc he's gonna be unbalanced.

Hidan is not really dumb. He scores a 3 on intellect

Headstrong is the word. He's too passionate about his work and as a result makes some really game-ending decisions quite a lot.

I imagine that 3 is partly for knowing how to effectively taunt his opponents.

He is headstrong but he does that to opponents he knows he can overwhelm. Might Guy(scored 3) and Kisame(scored 3.5) are around the same tier when it comes to intellect.
I know kishi said he had more jutsus in his arsenal but I wish he explained what jutsu Hidan did with his

The scythe was meant to have projectiles and god I wish I knew what else laid in that scythe. If Hidan were a tool user, he'd be able to hold his own.
