Sasuke when speaking to the sage, said that he sensed the presence of another inside of him before Hagoromo even revealed that Indra resided in him. Could it be that Sasuke separated his being from Indra's and recognized a foreign presence, and they maybe could have been in contact? Hence the name of Sasuke's attack?

Maybe Indra kept getting pissed that his incarnate was an outouto rather than a nii-san and he wasn't used to being a little brother and Sasuke felt that rage.

Lmao. He could've easily reincarnated in Itachi if he wanted, but he chose Sasuke. He probably chose him right when he swore vengeance on Itachi, as that Sasuke was different from before Itachi massacred his clan.

Lmao. He couldn't have anticipated it though. We can't know what goes on his mind as he chooses his incarnates, but he definitely knows the heart of who he chooses, or at least relates to it to an extent, so I'd say he chose Sasuke because he really felt connected to him, or if he went beyond the heart, Itachi would easily have been the perfect choice.

There was also the fact Itachi was dying, regardless of him being a perfect choice outwardly, so he pretty had only Sasuke and Obito, and Sasuke was obviously a lot smarter, and at least had a past that we could say was similar to Indra before it was destroyed.

I never said either were in contact but they could sense each other, both Naruto and sasuke could sense their presence but there's no contact
