His eyes went like that the first time when he met Nagato, they mentioned it later saying something about him entering sage mode despite having the kyuubi inside of him or something, it looked like a dojutsu but it seemed like it was just a frog transformation but now maybe it is sort of like a dojutsu they seem to be taking some liberties with these new installments.
