Ruined. - Light Yagami is supposed to be incredibly goodlooking; model esque - They won't follow cannon. - Anime turned live usually are disgusting garbage. - It's a movie, therefore it'll be incredibly rushed. Not looking forward to this. Edit: Seriously? Willem Dafoe? Really? Ryuk sounds much more menacing/dark than a simple Green Goblin. This movie is going to be utter garbage.

Willem Dafoe possibly could play a good Ryuk, but the Green Goblin voice recycle is not going to cut it.

Completely in agreement with this. Anime live action adaptations have a history of being god awful

I agree. This is an adaptation. I don't want it to be like Disney's live action Beauty and the Beast, which was just an unoriginal copy of the animated version.

Pros:
Green goblin as ryuk
Making misa an actual character instead of just comedic relief
Story seems just as dark as the anime
Action seemed decent
The quality of the cinematography actually is better than what I expected
The director seems to be taking his own spin off the anime which might be refreshing

Cons:
L seems so different from the anime version. I won't say it's bad just yet but it's not what I expected at all
Actor for light seems decent although I don't think he can pull off the dark side of that character
The trailer makes it sound like the story will be more action heavy instead of focusing on the tactics used by both sides like in the anime

Hollywood stay taking iconic stories written by Japanese people and turning it into trash. Despite Death Note being one of my favorite animes I will not be watching this.

Also not supporting a movie that once again played Asian actors out of a chance to be in the spotlight.

Yeah - it's not just that it's such an unoriginal dialogue but that it's completely out of character for Light to say something like that. Not to mention the actor doesn't have the looks either...not that kind of attractiveness and charm that would let him get away that easily. People had hard time believing Light could be a criminal and trusted him easily. This one looks suspicious as hell. The whole cast seems way off... way different motives and personality. Just with a death note and Ryuk.

Anyway. This is gonna suck. Watered down, catered for western palate that's trying to relate and get down with new type of emo kids who can't handle Light's true hardcore arararah *evil and kawaii* and L's sugar addiction. Too intense. Much too intense. Idk. I have no hope.

In all seriousness, they're making a big song and dance about the death note and its ability to kill. Light is supposed to be someone who is shady as hell but has such a thick sugar coating and is easy on the eyes that. It makes you think differently. The Light here is someone who is bullied and it shows on his face. The difference is that all the while that Light (Anime) has the death note, he plays a silent killing god. Tactical all the way through, save for the end. The Light here might as well be waving a flag and waving "Hey Kira here!!! Hey lookie I'm a death gawd! I'm gonna killll all you muthwhahasmdhcbwisks"

And L?? What u doing bro? L is supposed to be a mystery. Something unpretentious and is just in it for brain games (and justice)

In all, this adaptation might as well have L and Light have neon glowing headbands that say "I'm Kira" and "My secret identity isn't secret at all"

I don't know. I just love death note so much and I have no trust in western adaptations. The Japanese live action was okay. In the end, no live action is gonna capture the true essence of death note

Ps. Still not over Goku being a white highschool boy. Western adaptation is like a bad doujinshi or like a fanfiction of Twilight (looking at u 50 shades)
