Agreed, people somehow think because a matured 19yr old Naruto with full kurama and hashirama arm defeated him that he's weak.

19 years old isn't mature at all and Naruto was in base mode majority of the time. Toneri is weak for Naruto and Sasuke's standards.

On the contrary Toneri is extremely overrated. All the power he possesses yet he got whooped by a gimped Naruto. The only reason he was even able to absorb Naruto's chakra the first time around is because Naruto thought he could clash w/ that orb safely. He had that chakra ball technique against Naruto yet he ended up laid out with his eyes ripped out after the fact.

Hinata had to replenish Naruto's chakra after A Toneri who absorbed the power of the Tenseigan Energy Vessel (countless Byakugan along with Hamura's Tenseigan) absorbed it. If Toneri was capable of that with his own power he wouldn't have lost to Naruto.

And no, before fanboys pounce on this post no one is saying Toneri is weak. He's just not on par w/ Naruto or people on Naruto's level.

Toneri is one of those characters who qualifies as either overrated or underrated because of the immediate presence of feats, or lack thereof.

He's easily high-tier but to put him in a main character line with his current showcase, Nah. he needs character development.
He's, at most, to Boruto what Jiraiya/Gamamaru was to Naruto.

I'm no huge fan on toneri but I like him. People here seriously underestimate him and he has a major overlooked hax ability/feat that can solo just about anyone in NV.

Toneri can seemingly absorb/knockout one's chakra in an instant. Naruto arguably has the largest chakra pool in NV bar juubi jin madara and kaguya. Naruto at 19 chakra has obviously matured and he possess hashirama arm and full kurama, yet toneri drained him instantly twice.

If not for Hinata replenishing his chakra toneri would've wrecked nv. Imagine someone like sasuke getting drained, bye bye dojutsu and all jutsu.

Say what you will but toneri would absolutely wreck in majority of 1vs1 scenarios. ​
