I'm no huge fan on toneri but I like him. People here seriously underestimate him and he has a major overlooked hax ability/feat that can solo just about anyone in NV.

Toneri can seemingly absorb/knockout one's chakra in an instant. Naruto arguably has the largest chakra pool in NV bar juubi jin madara and kaguya. Naruto at 19 chakra has obviously matured and he possess hashirama arm and full kurama, yet toneri drained him instantly twice.

If not for Hinata replenishing his chakra toneri would've wrecked nv. Imagine someone like sasuke getting drained, bye bye dojutsu and all jutsu.

Say what you will but toneri would absolutely wreck in majority of 1vs1 scenarios. ​

Yep Toneri with tenseigan was one strong villain. Even without the tenseigan he's very strong.

The dude had no prior combat experience as well

Only had the full fledged Tenseigan for less then half a hour and was using truth seeking balls and chakra mode

In the anime we don't see his eyes even though after the LAST he was again blind

in all likelihood he may make a return stronger then before... Kishi particularly wanted him to return as one of the main characters

Toneri's absorbtion technique is very advanced compared to preta path or the one momoshiki used(preta?). Toneri's technique is instant.

Yeah, it's possible he got one of the spare Byakugan pairs around, awakened Tenseigan again and used it to remake the Energy Vessel.
