I'M pretty sure it's her. There's many clues . When i first saw Sumire i thought she's just a fodder character in Boruto but to think she has a role of the villain now with wood style. That's sometthing

She can be op and stuff, I just don't think who they where chasing is sumire, I could be wrong tho, that's the fun of guessing

Edit: I guess what I should say is it doesn't seem like her, although she could be brainwashed while looking for people to use for the nue, the person they're chasing doesn't really seem brainwashed but more like they're consciously doing what they're doing.... and either Mitsuki already knows, or he knows where they're heading... at least imo

This is kinda what I was thinking, the person seemed to be in control of themselves, and didn't seem brainwashed, although it's hard to tell without hearing a voice or seeing anything. If they where brainwashed tho I dont think the lil stare down with mitsuki would of happened, they would of either fought or ran right away, at least that's my .02

I'll have to check it out, you could be right about throwing them off the trail as well, she is the only one conveniently not there because she's supposed to be in the hospital, so there's that, but that itself could possible be a red herring, maybe it's kawaki? Isn't his episode coming up soon? They could always solve the nue issue without revealing who the masked person is, the masked kid is obviously not the mastermind
