OT yea if Sasuke got Naruto's DNA he would have awakened Rinnegan due to Naruto having Ashura's chakra.
Well, Im no hardcore Rinnegan fanboy so I just think it is.
Rinnegan was first associated with Nagato and his six paths of pain. We were all led to believe that Rinnegan is only usable by someone with huge chakra reserves (were we?) like Uzumaki Nagato. The three Great Dojutsu were completely known to us.
Then it was revealed that Nagato's Rinnegan were transplanted and they were originally Madara's. And then we were treated via memory lane how Madara awakened the Rinnegan. The Six Paths of Pain somehow I felt was diluted in concept even though Tobi utilized it. Ultimately, it felt like that Rinnegan and Sharingan work hand in hand (eye in eye hohoho) together. and Then there is the stuff about Kaguya.
Bonus. It felt like the Sharingan yet again needed a power up, and the Rinnegan was spent to serve that role, despite being a separate dojutsu. I have nothing against it though. What ruined it for me in the grand scheme of things is Kaguya and the transmigration probably.
