:kk:Outer Path puts them outside the cycle of life and death, when Hagoromo died he had control over his spirit and could move freely between pure world and mortal world, that essentially gave him potential to use a vessel to revive himself similar to Orochimaru.
The eye literally translates into 'eye of transmigration" and both Indra and Ashura inherited some of that power hence why neither of them left earth after they died.
Having a mortal body doesn't necessarily mean you're not immortal, the concept of death is very vague.
it allowed his charkra to stay behind and when used up he left it was never said he could take over a vessel nd his sons didnt have that power they`re charkra was only able to reincarnate into diffrerent people

The Rinnegan grants access to any and all jutsus. The Outer Path itself also heavily revolves around life and death.
It doesn't make one immortal, but it gives them the potential.
from the databook :
One who wields the Rinnegan is sent down from the heavens to become either a "God of Creation" who will calm the world or a "God of Destruction" who will reduce everything to nothingness.
so, keep calm and praise the rinnegan
the strongest power in NARUTOVERSE
Konan said the rinnegan is Gedo (7th pain). That means the power of the statue can take life and give it, meaning Sasuke would constantly need to feed off of it to give him eternal life. Basically what Madara did. It's hardly immortal.
And to transmigrant over to different bodies isn't only a rinnegan feat Hagoromoo did, six path individuals like Ashura, Indra, and even Obito(temporary) have done this however the person migrating has little influence over the host.
Except Sasuke himself stated he already had ability to be immortal even though he lacked the Gedo Mazo, as I said before, immortality is vague and Gedo Mazo is just one of the many ways he can achieve it.

The chakra is linked with the soul and as long as your soul is on earth you're not dead. Rinnegan translates into 'eye of transmigration' key word, 'transmigration', his sons had the power to transmigrate.
The reason they're able to remain on earth is because they have control over their souls unlike anyone that doesn't have some form of Six Path power.
They got it from Hagoromo's Outer Path, for further proof, Outer Path is originally the Gedo's power and both Indra and Ashura inherited powers from the Juubi/Gedo, that would include the ability to transmigrate.

No i mean konan literally said that the rinnegan IS Gedo. So she's saying that regardless of where it is, the rinnegan draws power from it or can use some alternative to carry out this feat.
So hooking useful into something to depend on it to extend your life is some form of immortality but it's hardly is at the same time.
Kakuza said it best, there's no such thing as immortality it's just prolonging life.
you are wrong bro
"Gedo"means : The Outer Path (外道, Gedō) the seventh Path
and the Gedo Statue is just one of several techniques used through the power of the The Outer Path (Gedō), like "gedo rinne tensei"
I would hold off on that uzamaki body-Gedo theory for a bit and focus on what the rinnegan is for now.Konan's knowledge was limited, you have to remember everything Obito taught Nagato was with the intention to manipulate him, most of what Konan knew about Rinnegan was only true to a certain extent.
Gedo is a part of the Outer Path but Outer Path does not solely rely on the Gedo, as an Uzumaki Naruto's body is nearly identical to that of the Mazo which means he technically has Outer Path as well.
In fact, Uzumaki inherited Gedo feats, Susanoo was meant to function like a Gedo, that shows that Indra and Ashura did inherit the power of the Gedo which would also include the Outer Path's ability to remain outside the cycle of life and death.
Inheriting Outer Path feats is why Hagoromo's children were able to remain on earth after having their bodies destroyed just like him and Hamura. As long as you have Six Path power you have the ability of the Outer Path.
