There is NO such thing as Boruto's dojutsu in the manga!! I don't give a s**t to what the anime shows.
Boruto appeared in the first pages of the manga having ONE byakugan in his scared right eye in a kakashi-like style.
So, I don't think it is his original eye

In hindsight we probably should of realized something was off due to it not looking like a Byakugan or a Sharingan.

Despite the scar that he gets in his eye later, there's no way he would of gotten that eye from anywhere else. Because no one else has an eye that looks similar.

But it was hard to argue this because of the scar itself, which looked like he needed a transplant. Though they kind of spoiled it in the anime.

Yeah boruto dojutsu still looks like the Byakugan if you pay attention to the concept design. Both the iris and pupil looked the same and the only difference is how they added in the colors inbetween instead of leaving blank furthermore boruto light blue still almost look like white.

What you mean first of all veins only appear when it's activated. Also a byakugan is white eyes with white pupils which it is only difference is outside portion is black and it's glowing.

Goes black with the dark purple. Maybe the Otsutsuki curse mark from Momo and the Hyuga Byakugan genes are what's causing this mutated doujutsu of sorts.

It may very well be an all new doujutsu derived from Byakugan origins.

On a side note I kind of feel that ghost will be neji

Because if Mitsuki is related to the snake-lion and the snake-lion is related to the Ootsutsuki ghost, that means Mitsuki is related to the Ootsutsuki ghost.
