[Discussion] Dressrosa flaw

Even if luffy couldn't beat doffy sabo and futijora were both there and could've easily beaten him

luffy gear 4 was clearly stronger than doffy. Even in the fisherman arc Oda made it seemed luffy was struggling until gear 4th was introduced. Jinbei was also there just in case luffy somehow "lost" to hody which now +100 chapters later we know is never gonna happen.

If Luffy went G4 from the start then he and Law would have ended Dressrosa in 1 chap.

Heroes always wait until they're half dead to use a trump card which always made me wonder how bad would they wreck shit if they started off with their trump card?

Luffy was dead to rights after using gear fourth the first time, how is that a trump card if the enemy is still up.

Also how would Dressrosa be over in one chapter if Luffy used it from the first second in. He would blow his load, give Doffy a beating, collapse and be fu*ked, because Gear 4th wasn't even enough for an injured Doffy without the entire family running around.

Fujitora explained perfectly clear why he couldn't intervene with Doflamingo seeing their positions, but that didn't mean he was going to let the people of Dressrosa die. Him helping Zoro push the cage back was a symbol of him putting his trust in the hands of pirates to do the job of the marines.

Sabo same thing, he put he faith in his brothers hands while he took out other threats that were hindering the Pirate Alliance.

So in the end they played their parts in overthrowing Doflamingo, did what Smoker couldn't do in Alabasta. And showing the world what it needed to see.

Threads like these show exactly who do and who don't understand the story. All the suggestions on how to 'fix' it make it so much worse.

The captain hindsight goggles always make it so easy to complain about choices some characters made. Maybe Doffy should've made his birdcage and waited from the inside of the smile factory.

See I just made Doffy win in one chapter too.

Trump Card: a valuable resource that may be used, especially as a surprise, in order to gain an advantage.
G4 gave Luffy an advantage and was a surprise resource for him. Trump cards don't always have to result in victory, villains use trump cards too and still lose.

A. We don't/can't know if Luffy has a fixed time limit regardless of condition or not so the idea is less damage taken -> more energy -> more time -> more damage given.

C. It wouldn't have been over in 1 chap that's clearly hyperbolic but it would have been an easier fight had he started in G4, but the fight needed tension hence why characters don't start at with their strongest moves.

This thread is about a plothole that isn't a plothole, I explained why Oda did it his way and why there isn't a plothole. Luffy doing things differently doesn't make it less or more of a plothole because that would just be creating your own reality.

I do like the doffy idea that would work too. I'm just saying no way futijora and sabo would've just let the birdcage close with them in it. And obviously oda wrote it that way for a reason. Anyways well played

You asked about trump cards, that's what I replied to, I didn't address the plot hole aspect. See how I broke it up into parts to discuss and parts not? That's because I wasn't addressing the "flaw" from the OP. It's not speculation either, the manga said G4 uses up Luffy's haki ergo no haki use before G4 = more haki available for use in G4-more G4. Whether more G4 would have put Doffy down or not is speculation but I didn't say one way or the other on that.
