How did Danzo really respect/consider Leaf assets like Kakashi and Minato?

Although nin heroes like Minato, Kakashi, Guy and Shikaku subscribe to Hiruzen's Will of Fire, i've always been curious in knowing the extent of Danzo's disdain for these Leaf nin. Though he might see them as potential tools in his goal (Itachi, Kakashi, Yamato) they are allies and huge contributors to protecting the security of the Leaf village, winning wars and making other villages fearful- Danzo's priority.

He even smiles and never talks down to Itachi in their first meeting in Itachi's novel. You could honestly call it just as pleasant and respectful as it is cold and calculating.

How far does Danzo dislike these men? Is there any respect or kinsmanship with heroes of the Leaf, even if they don't affirm to his political agenda? ALSO: Do you think Danzo voted Orochimaru for the Hokage seat?

It is rather he doesn't dislike individuals but their actions if it doesn't align to his vision.

He doesn't go out of his way to establish a relationship, once they served their use he leaves them, if the became a hindrance or potential problem he eliminates them.

He uses them as tools, hence his ideal ninja is THE ROOT foundation, people who have tossed away their emotions and relationships.

I think he respected their power and abilities. So long as their goals coincided with the Hidden Leaf being on top, he remained civil and largely indifferent.

But if you started to question or interfere with his long term or short term goals you'd become a liability which he would guise as "for the good of the leaf"

I think he did advocate for Orochimaru's nomination as Hokage. With Oro as Hokage, his goals would have most likely have been sanctioned and the Uchiha probably would have rebelled much sooner.

And they probably wouldn't have been massacred as Itachi and Sishui would have sided with their clan against a corrupt Hokage destabilizing the Hidden Leaf as a whole.

I can't help but think he would had viewed all kage+ jonin ninja in the leaf as a potential threat. I can't help but think that if Minato had stuck around, they would have clashed.

Respect to his end is a fitting way to put it. As Hiruzen says in that same novel, Danzo genuinely doesn't adhere to the concept of friends, even people he's known his whole life- he's an "acquaintance" to.

Indifference might be the right answer to Danzo's idea of respect. The way he grooms Itachi and seems genuinely proud of him is such an interesting relationship they should've explored though. The novel doesn't give enough.

Danzou probably respects most konohai ninja who don't get in his way towards his goals, because in reality, everything he did was for the Village.

Even though he was considered a 'villain', he might have been seen as just a unjust hero using unmoral methods for ploy.

Such an interesting character. I personally see his origin in his flashback rather than his actions as an adult. Everything is for self-gain and his disconnection from 'acquaintances' comes from a place of jealousy IMO. He's bitterness incarnate, like- a love for the village does NOT immediately result in a hatred for the Uchiha. Course i'm projecting but damn, great character.

Most of Kishimoto's villains who aren't Uchiha are usually well thought out because they don't need the Curse of Hatred to be seen as 'evil', though I'm going to discount the Otsutsuki by far.

Orochimaru is a good example of how great villains were in early Naruto before Kishimoto got enamored by the Uchiha Clan plot and decided to let them run the entire Manga so that the lesser villains can lose relevancy.

At least in Danzou's case, his final showdown against Sasuke was beautifully animated. He deserved more though, for sure.

Orochimaru said that the villagers expected him to be hokage it was hiruzen and jiraiya specifically that wanted minato. I personally believe that Danzo just wanted to be hokage himself over anybody else.
