And yes, he did have a moment of pause amidst his battles where he even healed himself with Karin's help during the fight with Gaara and that part where he barged into a room full of Kages and Kage levels plus their bodyguards with no plan whatsoever expecting anything other than an asskicking.

Neither of those are excuses. The Kages are known throughout the Elemental Nations, the Raikage was even hailed as the fastest man alive, him not knowing who he might be up against is still Sasuke being a hatred filled idiot.

It makes sense that he would try and recognise Danzo as to have a target to attack, but Sasuke stayed around even after he saw the man's face. He was planning on taking him out in the Summit. Which was the original plan to begin with, so him disregarding Karin's idea without any other say on the subject especially since he was working with a team meant the plans remained unchanged.
