At first I'm like...Kishi what the shet (not really I really always wanted him to die), but then I'm like well shet Anakin Skywalker died and he was the main character-ish.

People say Sasuke would die first but that would be...dumb in many ways. Naruto too, but he really hasn't contributed to his character even being his father right or wrong? Sasuke actually trained him up and it would be too rushed trying to sell that "My teacher died...I want revenge.. I care about him soooo much..." cliche type of drive, even a few chapters down the line because the build up would be off but he does have his cloak and sword.

I mean:

Naruto is rusty.
He doesn't do much.
He's kind of a side character.
It would boost this series because I mean who the hell cares if he's in the universe off panel if we aren't seeing him? That's the same thing as basically being dead.

He's just a sideshow bob now in teh manga...+therez lots of ways to feature naruto in future content......like movies or manga side stories which focus on him prior to his death!
