The only ones that aren't fodders in the series died by their own accord.

Examples are:
Itachi
Shisui (KA is too OP)
Nagato (series should really have ended here)
Minato (shame he had to do that because he had to protect everyone)

Anyone who was killed by someone else are fodders.

I mean like, or just interesting and likeable characters...

Boring ninja who have to be killed by the authors suggest they've written themselves into a corner, poor writing.

In terms of Naruto, yes. I don't know whether it really was Kishi's inability to write proper story or his bosses pressuring him to dish out and keep milking the series in which he no longer had any control of it.

Either way, the end resulted into having these characters where he had no means to end them when they had to be.

It's a card Naruto way overplays, it was bs starting with Kimimaro and it was bs in the late game.

Only true sacrifices such as Hiruzen's and Yahiko's don't feel forced. 'Fodder' got nothing to do with it.
