Fire starts turning orange around 2100 degrees farenheight, the same temperature as the hottest lava. Fire is bright red at around 1800 degrees farenheight and aces was definitely past red. Yellow fire (which ace used in his attack against BB) is over 2500 degrees.

So how is akainu hotter if he isn't? It must be because he's liquid that's all

Yeah, partly because he's liquid and partly cos of Haki (I assume).
Tho, the fact that haki wasn't fully developed as of MF means it could be passed of as Akainu having waaaay superior haki.
Also, I remember reading something about an sbs where Oda talked about DFs having superior versions, that the Magma fruit > fire fruit and Ice fruit > snow fruit. (didn't try verifying this tho, since it sounds like BS).

I've heard that too but I don't see how magma is superior. It's basically just liquid acid, where as fire is a gas, sure they both burn and melt shit but I'd pick a gas form over a liquid form and fire does get hotter, but I see liquid being a bad match up but not superior overall

Akainu said is fruit is superior because Ace is just fire. So I'm assuming that Akainu took advantage over the rock part of his devil fruit to punch through Ace. Because fire just heats of lava even more if anything.

He did not use haki, it wouldn't make sense to protect your lava from burning your opinion with spiritual armor (buso haki).

There's no rhyme or reason behind it. There are some Devil Fruits that are just superior to others. It's not because magma is hotter or anything like that, it just is. Akainu's superior fruit overpowers and cancels out Ace's inferior fruit. Simple as that.

Haki, everything else was just a "cool" line by Akainu

As the others have said, Haki.
Wrong. Haki had nothing to do with it.

Hmmm, this kinda clarifies it, it's Oda's manga afterall.

Magma > fire is still odd tho.

The average temperature of orange flames is 1100 degrees Celsius. The average temperature of lava is 1250 degrees Celsius. Ace can't handle temperatures 1190 degrees & above for he'll get burned like everyone else & Akainu on average is 150 degrees hotter. Akainu is immune to the flame fruit while the flame fruit user is vulnerable.

Do you think that it's possible for a Mera Mera No Mi user to gain access to blue flames?

Wrong orange flames are hotter than magma.

We're actually both right & wrong. The average temperature of orange flames is lower than magma. The MAXIMUM temperature of orange flames if higher than magma but in this case, Ace's flames are of average temperature & can't stop Akainu, hence why Akainu straight up BURNED Ace.

Do you think that it's possible for a Mera Mera No Mi user to gain access to blue flames?
Highly likely or else there is no logical way of a mera user whether it be Sabo or Coby to beat Akainu. Ace utilized green flames which is a higher temperature than orange flames so that counts for something.

If we aren't going with the haki argument lets go with another. The heat capacity of of lava is sure to be greater than whatever is the medium for ace's fire, presumable air. That means that the lava can soak up quite a beat of heat aka energy before it begins to gain significant temperature. And because heat flows in the direction of decreasing temperature, heat flows from ace's fire into akainus lava and ace does not have enough energy in his fire to heat up the lava enough to burn akainu if that would even be possible. So akainu actually cools ace until all his heat/fire runs out which exposes ace's body, thus he can be damaged.

That is my scientific explanation for this completely non-scientific phenomenon.

That sbs actually kinda supports both imo, it says both that magu magu > mera mera and it says it doesn't correlate to character strength, meaning Akainu simply won because he was that much stronger than Ace and imo a lot of that has to do with Haki, I personally think that the final answer as to why he could kill him with one punch is either Haki or the fact that Ace simply let him put a hole through him, Its kinda hard to imagine that 1 punch can kill if you turn into fire, if he drowned him in molten rock yes, but one punch without haki would imo not do it

Actually HS as much as I don't agree; fire is like 1,180 degrees and molten lava is like 1,000 degrees hotter than that. So magma is actually hotter than fire. You can't use the sun/star as an example for fire because of its plasma so it's not exactly the same thing.
Fire is a form of plasma. Fire doesn't start turning oranges until it hits over 2000 degrees. The same temperature as lava. It starts turning yellow after its already heated past lava

Hmm, your thoughts on if Enel struck akainu or ace

And do you think aces one attack he used against BB would classify as yellow flames?

The magma also probably smothers and assimilates fire since it's molten rock and there's a solid component.

The turning into fire thing doesn't really matter. When Akainu's magma hits Ace, it basically cancels out his power. If Ace's midsection is transformed into fire, and Akainu punches it without Haki, the magma will still blow through him and burn him as flesh and blood, as per Akainu's description. He killed him in one punch because when he hit Ace, it burned up his guts.
