So i've heard this quite a lot and im curious about who started this or what is this information coming from?

Where in the manga has a sensor been "Immune" to genjutsu. More specifically when has a sensor been capable of sensing their ownselves being caught in a genjutsu?

As long as the genjutsu does not require eye contact even a sensor type would fall under a genjutsu. The moment the genjutsu needs an eye contact to take effect then there is a chance a good sensor can avoid eye contact and still fight effectively.
