Even though I know what comes next, the character development is being handled better than I expected. While all the new characters are being given time to shine, I want to start by saying Boruto himself is being handled exceptionally. While we see him a rebellious kid with a surprising amount of wisdom despite the fact, we also see his relationship with his father being established subtlety which makes it feel so much more real. The movie didn't have the luxury of time, the whole ordeal had to be rushed so that it could fit. In the new Boruto anime the relationship is shown alongside Boruto's school life, which gives it more meaning. We see the contrast between fun and exciting school life and then switching to Boruto coming home to see his dad slogging up the stairs, too tired to spend time with his family or even acknowledge them in a meaningful way. To me this was way more powerful in the anime than in the movie because of the contrast between between exciting and lively school life and then dissapointment and feelings of neglect
It also shows how people's perceptions clash. Like how that one kid with the staff believed Boruto had it easy because he was the Hokage's son and blamed the modern state of society for his lack of success in school, but later learned Boruto was strong and successful on his own and he was just putting the blame on other things because he refused to better himself.
